I’ve noticed over the past two weeks - rage baiting is the name of the game on YT and TT, in all subjects. I have stopped taking the bait. I urge everyone to not view these obvious grabs for clicks. Most serve no purpose but to keep you angry and engaged.

I just blocked creators that are rage baiting. I have no interest in interacting with their content in the future.

Wrong . The way to tell the algorithm no is to STOP clicking the video in the first place. If it comes across your feed don’t interact with it and report it or tell them not interested in it . Every single time you comment you’re rewarding them .

I avoid anything that looks like rage baiting. You can also help teach the algorithm by blocking accounts that use rage baiting so that they do not get pushed to you which can count as an impression and work in the creator's favor.

One thing I noticed some time ago here on YT was the bots. No matter how much you try to educate people, bots will come on not exactly trying to discredit you, but trying to create chaos in the discussion, so people will get distracted and forget why they are watching a video like this in the first place. And it works almost every time. Every single one of my comments that get over 1k likes and 20+ comments gets a swarm of bots calling everyone names, saying the topic is bs just to aggravate people and have that discord.

I don’t follow makeup influencers as I don’t want to look like a drag queen! And they all do! Heavy layered makeup looks awful! I follow skin care influencers to keep abreast of new innovations, for me it’s that simple!

About a year ago I promised myself that if cassndra ask to hit the like button I always would. I and I still do. Love you girl😂

Genuine question: Isn’t calling it out in the comments going to further promote the algorithm? I get the sentiment, but it seems like the most effective thing to do would be to ignore, dislike, or report. I’m not sure how it all works though.

EXACTLY! There was someone well known a few years ago that did a Halloween photoshoot of her skin painted jet black with all black eyes and made to look demonic, and people screamed that it was blackface... Like, come on. She was even bullied into apologizing.

Never comment on rage bait. Report for spam and then block. Thats it. The last thing I want to do is engage and be recommended even more stupid shit. Spend your comments like you would currency, your comment are money in that creators pockets. Rage baiters know this, this is why they target people who know better who try to be kind and informative or stand up for justice in their comments. They prey on those people. Simply use your time to comment on creators who are actually worth it and put real effort into their content. There is no point in commenting on rage bait, they’re not stupid they know better and so does everyone who watches them. It’s no one’s job to inform or coddle anyone especially when they are exploiting a situation they know they are wrong in for clout. Ignore, ignore, ignore! They will go away on their own when they realize people refuse to engage.

Maybe these people actually believe what they’re talking about, but most of the time it just seems like they’re trying to be as controversial and inflammatory as possible to get views and engagement

I’m not sure, but I don’t think the video clip you included with the youthoria foundation with the ballet slippers was rage bait. They have to colour them themselves, and usually have to use paint, which is damaging, or sharpies which doesn’t look great. Foundation is apparently the best. Though I wouldn’t recommend supporting a business like youthoria, I’m sure other companies must make something similar.

Ragebaiting doesn't need our comments. If you are worried about young impressionable people then you do not want to feed the algorithm, so the video doesnt spread to them. And chances are: there is already a comment that expresses why a given video is wrong. So maybe just like such comments (idk if liking comments feeds the algorithm, but I assume it does it less). And maybe instead let's engage with valuable content. Or a content that calls out bad practices. And finally, if we think about young impressionable people, we need to stop rewarding bad behaviour. There is a reason why rage baiting is especially popular with young "irl streamers". They have learned in the platforms that it brings profit. They are not stupid, they know that some stuff are plain wrong, but they also see the "benefit" of engagement. They also see that some people are "uncancellable", especially if you start with rage baiting branding, there is notging to expose you for. (And meanwhile some wholesome creators get exposed for some one thing and lose their whole career). The thing is, a lot of those rage baiting creators is also faking their monetary success, kinda fake it till you make it. So young people might think that you can actually make money on such content, meanwhile a lot of brands don't want to be associated with such bad pr. And also, such creators are easily replacable as they rarely build relationship with their audience, and the next more rage inducing creator sweeps into algorithm for next 5 minutes after them.

I saw one of these rage bait videos the other day and I thought it was some weird avant-garde humor. The video I watched was of a person looking like there were driving a car (but really they had flipped the video while someone else was driving so it created that illusion). She overlined her lips and put on the worst lipstick and foundation I've ever seen. At the end of the video her makeup looked PERFECT lol. Now that I watched this I know it's purposeful manipulation. Thank you so much for informing us about this. Now I will not be liking any of this content.

This video is definitely not for me since I am not part of these shit communities. Hopefully this video can help some girls out there who are incredibly influencable and naive.

I am currently going out of my way to interact with the content I truly enjoy. And I report rage baiting content in all social media. It's just gross. Content creation used to be fun and these... "people" are ruining them. I say make content like this calling them out, without tagging them or sending people their way. But most effectively, just report and block their accounts. That's going to royally mess with their engagement. ;)

The jet black foundation shade is a mix shade to darken a foundation. Just like there is a white shade to lighten a foundation color. It’s completely ridiculous to be mad at a brand for doing that. A few years ago people complained foundations weren’t offered in a dark enough shade. People always look for flaws or potential drama. Absolutely ridiculous!
