Kaushiki Chakraborty’s rendition raga Malkauns of a lively exploration Indian classical genre. It is one of the oldest ragas of Indian classical music. A doyen of the Patiala gharana, Chakrabarty’s lilting voice and ease of improvisation make it a wonderful listening experience. The Malkauns raga was performed by Kaushiki Chakraborty at the Bengal Classical Music Festival in Dhaka, in 2015. On stage she is ably accompanied by the harmonium virtuoso Ajay Joglekar and the acclaimed tabla artist Satyajit Talwalkar.
Kaushiki Chakraborty’s astonishing khayal vocal technique is the result of years of intense training. She spent much of her childhood living at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, one of India’s premiere music institutions, while her father Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty worked there as a khayal scholar. She known for a strong Islamic influence and elaborate melodic ornamentation, and has become one of the first female singers from this tradition to receive international recognition. Today she focuses on Hindustani classical music, but has also sung in films and recorded popular songs.

Kaushiki ji, kotti kotti pranaam. It is my belief, you are the true reincarnation of maataa Saraswati. At this time, nobody among female singers can match your soul touching singing in the world. Your command on the voice is beyond imagination. Tarannum is mind boggling. May god give you health and long long life to give every classical music lovers reason to live in this materialistic world for another day. My special tribute to your father and guru Pandit Ajay Chakrobarty ji, who carved such a precious gem. Aayushmaan bhav.
Nobody can sing the great raag Malkauns like this. I am nobody, but today I nominate you the uncrowned queen of Indian Classical Music. You are simply THE BEST.

Sorry I forgot to give my tribute to great masters on harmonium. tabla and taanpura. Without their contribution this rendition would not be so blissful. Kotti kotti pranaam to all this artists who had given their life to serve our god given gift of Shaastriya Sangeet.

I feel so calm and relaxed whenever I listen to Classical Raags... They are so soothing especially when sung by such a jewel like Kaushiki Ma'am! 💓

I was undermpression of that So precious Sastriysangeets are only sung by respected artist's.from.south lndia. I have pleasure to listen such performance from the great artist Kaushik mam.she is leaving Ma Saraswati of Bengal. Pray to almighty for her protection and happiness to serve for the country with her such.performamce.
Kaushikiji has secured a distinct position in the world classical music. Her vibrant and varied variation of intonation transcend our heart and soul to a spiritual height.
After a very long time heard this wonderful rendering without getting distracted for even a second. What a beautiful composition. What a style. Alap was so good and anchoring that one cannot but listen to the whole rendition. Kaushikiji pranaaam🙏
