Well that degenerated quickly lol when the lands start getting exiled, it’s time to shuffle up and play game 2.

Ben is this game's MVP. He kept getting his lands nuked time and time again but stayed in the whole game. I would have scooped out of the game as soon as that second emblem hit. That is some outstanding sportsmanship.

@@MultiTaz333 Yes. Magic is infinitely better where it's meant to be played: at the table in person where each player is playing with cards from their personal collection.

I'm now living vicariously through Dr. Martin. I've always known how powerful Raff can be as a commander that can flash in any historic spells. I've just never had the money to make his average planeswalker decks, but seeing him pop off with it makes me the big happy. Way to represent him well Martin c:

This was actually kinda fun to watch? Usually when one guy has something as oppressive as two venser emblems the game is a chore to watch and play but the fight between you three and Doc was very back and forth till the end. Good games

Dr. Martin missed some exile triggers, but I loved the deck! But more importantly: is he a medical doctor/does he have a doctorate??

Glad to see Ghave again, I want to watch other people play it and see how they build their decks, just to compare it to the deck I'm ordering on Thursday! I'm excited to play it.

Where can I find the deck list to that Raff deck? I’ve been trying to make the exact same type of deck and could really use a good template

I think the three other players had a lot of turns to do something about doctor Martin’s strategy, but unfortunately were 13 points of damage short of taking the good doctor out. Dr Martin started to take the lands out only at the end. I like dr Martin’s win strategy a lot better than turn infinite 2 card combo strategies. I’d like to give a big thumbs up for the deck building, strategy and kind of wins I see usually on this channel. And the editing as well. 20 minute fast action packed video for games which probably last at least thrice that.

Nice game! Is there anyway to get a deck list from Dr Martin? I have a buddy that wants to make a Raff deck.

Dr. Martin played the game out very well. No one noticed his planeswalkers until it was too late. He also managed to pull off the win when it was basically 1v3.

Everything would've gone so much differently if you have blown your disk in response to Tezzeret's untap activation (and, to be fair, with information you have had it was the best timing to do it anyway).

He alternatively could have waited and struck a deal to let the Ascension make tokens to deal with the walkers, before blowing everything but them.

Bohdan Yarema how is that a bad deal for the Ascension player? He had the mana open already to make two angels at the end of Andrew’s turn so he’s not out anything. He was also the only person with the ability to attack any walkers down. If Andrew keeps the disk around, I’d be happy to have an ascension. Ascension lets you put pressure on board without over extending into the disk. I feel like if I was the Ascension player I’d be the one asking Andrew to hold off and let me clear the walkers first since Andrew could eliminate my ascension and angels at will.

@@danriemer9724 it is a bad deal for Ascension player, because it creates situation where walkers are all 3 players' problem, but you are the only person spending resources to remove them. And after spending all these resources you would gain nothing for yourself, because disk would be popped, and all your angels would be gone. More than that, Erebos player can just play his God and simply draw more cards, advancing his wincon. When someone plays delayed wrath effect like disk, you need to don't care about it at all / have clear answer to it / pressure this player like hell to force him to blow it early. "Negotiate with terrorist" is not the correct way here. After all, as I already mentioned, if disk was popped in response to Tezzeret untapping lotus, there would be only one walker on the table and full turn cycle to prepare answers for it and future ones.

Bohdan Yarema I guess I disagree here. He could have made angels at the end of Andrew’s turn and killed Tez had the disk not been blown. Then with the ascension and disk on the field you aren’t really incentivized to cast anything else which allows you to hold up mana and make more angels. If Andrew let the ascension player kill Tez and blow the disk at the end step before his next turn the board state probably looks very similar minus one tezzeret, which I think would please everyone. Popping the disk on his own turn vs the ascension players really doesn’t do anything except take away the ability to pressure the walker. I think the ascension player, knowing he can lose his board at anytime, would be perfectly happy taking down a Tez. The issue with the delayed wrath here is that disk doesn’t clear everything. There is a clear threat that is going to be left behind after the disk goes, and the disk is going to take the pressure that could deal with the walker with it.

Dr. Martin gave a prescription for pain, with added salt.

Man I want to see that Dr. Martin deck list lol. The deck was wild lol.

It was an entertaining match! I have played where a guy was running Daretti and blew up everyone's lands, so we rallied and beat him (twice). Other times an oppressive Tasigur deck had us all down and we were digging for answers, until someone decided to get second place and Kiki Jiki'ed the rest of us. Is Dr. Martin a proctologist because he went all up in you guys' asses, lol. #sorrynotsorry

If there was only one emblem, they'd have killed him together before their lands started to be hit, they were pretty close to killing him even with 2 emblems

Would it be possible for you guys to post the Raff list? I love planeswalkers and I love Azorius more than anything!

DarkEinherjar i had villis in the zone too for a while but i got targeted so much from all the draw power and villis got so expensive to cast. The way i saw it was if i switch it up to chainer, and put villis in the 99 i get access to the same engine and everybody else’s yards too and its been pretty nice

Vampire Hexmage for mono black planeswalker kill spells! Also activates dark depths if you wanna throw in the 20/20 flying indestructible.

@@MTGMuddstah Murderous Rider from eldraine also hits planeswalkers. Basically hero's downfall with a creature you can cast later. Enough tutors in black to grab em if you need!

@@malloryab I think what a lot of people miss out on is the audio in these games. We were all laughing and having fun. Ben, Malcolm and I were all trying our best to take Martin out and he was really having fun trying to not die.

damn those two venser emblems just wrecked everyone.

I fail to see why people consider Dr. Martin's deck "degenerate"... it's not like his main game plan is to get Venser to ult twice and stop people from sticking permanents on the battlefield. It's rare to be able to activate even one planeswalker's ultimate, let alone two, and most of the time, it's the opponents' fault for giving someone that opportunity.

Definitely a battle of archenemy, but that happens from game to game. Not a good thing or a bad thing. Just variance. Yes, he had a pretty solid lock on the game, but the fact that you guys were willing to try and figure a way out of it was still good gameplay. You can only keep up so much gas for 3 on 1. He just beat you to the end. I know a lot of people are upset about the game, but I can definitely appreciate this. Not every game is going to be big swing and power shifts. Players have to learn to engage in all types of magic, even the difficult salt inducing games.

Yep! I try not to cherry pick every game I post. It wouldn't give an accurate representation. I already see way too many comments saying that my "meta" ALWAYS plays a t1 Sol Ring.... which isn't correct at all lol.

For the first time I have seen a decent amount of board wipes in a game that were lacking in other games. I'm not saying it's a good or a bad thing but just an observation. This is more what a Commander game really looks like.

Man this game was so sad, watching three people go ham on one dude and can't stop him cuz one emblem alone is so OP it wins, but having two so its bascially GG. I respect everyone sticking around to try and finish martin off, however I feel if this wasn't a recorded game everyone would have dipped as soon as venser ulted twice in the same turn.

One question out of curiosity: Is doctor Martin a real Doctor?

Yeah... blowing up the Disk when you did probably wasn't a good idea... maybe you should've made a deal: leave the Ascension there as long as Malcolm agrees to use the tokens for planeswalker management against Dr. Martin. Also, don't you run All is Dust and Oblivion Stone in your Erebos (now Villis) deck? They're good at handling planeswalkers too.

It was tough to call. We were like one good turn or two away from getting back into it, until the very end. I think around the Cyc Rift was when we should have scooped.

Not going to lie, you guys had to dogpile on Dr. Martin and that's okay, but I was lowkey cheering him on as he fought back. Lol

Couldn't doctor martin get unlimited Venser ultimates? He showed he had the loop of picking up tezzeret to untap chain vest and thrand dinnamo .... Edit: nevermind, I see it's not a "may" for Venser tick up... (By "may" I mean not worded like exile up to 1...)

It also cost him 1 more mana than the Dynamo per activation, so he had to use his lands until he ran out. This meant it was only enough mana to do it the second time.

That disk use was pretty atrocious honestly. I know it wasn't intentional kingmaking, but it definitely handed the game to Doc on a silver platter. Vish Kal was in a position to bully those Planeswalkers and nobody else was really. I mean, wait until you see where the angels are getting sent before you pop the disk at the very least. It's not like disk won't pick up the angel tokens anyway at instant speed.

True. I guess my decision was based more on that I've lost often to an unanswered Ascension than I have a Tezzeret. I could have probably forced Malcolm to attack others instead of me with the threat of the disc.
