The hostages were never actually a priority. I specifically remember Hamas offering to release all the hostages if Israel stopped the attack on Gaza at the very beginning. They miscalculated Israel's disinterest in its own citizens' safety!!! Its possible Mossad & the Israeli elite ALLOWED Oct 7th attack to happen as a pretext to wipe out their ' Gaza problem'.

Israel's STATED aims never were Israel's goals. They knew that Hamas could not be defeated, and the real aim was/is to murder and dispossess Palestinian civilians. Not only in Gaza, this is also ongoing in the West Bank, but is not mentioned nearly as often as it should be due to dire conditions in Gaza. They never ardently wanted hostages back either, the leadership I mean. I am sure families wanted their loved ones home. Leadership prefers the death of hostages, as evidenced by the shooting by IDF of two that held white flags while calling for help from the soldiers, identifying themselves as Israelis. The return of hostages would likely mean more Israeli voices reporting that they were well treated in captivity, something Palestinians in Israeli prisons can't say...and many are held for years without charges, so they are also hostages. It could also end in yet more voices reporting that on Oct. 07, it was IDF that killed many Israelis. Dead hostages are like a deposit on the Israeli "victim" card, another talking point for their "war". Any living civilians of Palestine, at the end of the murder spree, Israel hopes will be too demoralized to want to stay in Palestine. Israel's goal is "Greater Israel". If you have a soul, I assume you are praying that Israel fails in their expansionist project. The world doesn't need a bigger, more powerful (from theft of Palestine's resources and geographical position) murderous apartheid state.

It has also shed light on how International law has failed to protect Palestinians. What is the point of these organisations if they can't apply pressure to ensure international law is adhered to?
