Radio Gnome Invisible Trilogy - Gong - Prog's Greatest Albums Podcast

Музыка

The Radio Gnome Invisible Trilogy from those pot head pixies, Gong has to be one of prog's greatest moments. List to our take on these 3 amazing albums as I'm joined by Paul 'Dr. Prog' Goodge.
We look at the story behind the music, and the world Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth created on the albums Flying Teapot (1973), Angel's Egg (1973), and You (1974)

Been a Gong fan from the states for awhile. Great video. I learned some things and agree! You is my favorite. I recently found a great original copy (not easy to come by here) and absolutely fell in love with Gong again. Also found a Live Herald! I now own every Steve Hillage album. A guitar hero of mine as well.

I caught a 'mais oui' early in this discussion, which reminds me how important the French connection is for this band - the trilogy originated in France and Daevid and Gilli's retreat in Deja, Majorca. Canterbury music was v popular on the continent, and to that extent Gong is fitted by that label, but remember their roots in Paris and 'les evenements' even before Deja days. A regular good chat chaps, m thanks

My favourite album is You, but Other Side Of The Sky off Angel's Egg is possibly my favourite track of all time. Tim Blake is a genius.

Greatings from Croatia! I have been a Gong fan since first time I heard them as teenager. Still like to listen to them today. I have trilogy as well as Live album, Continental Circus, Gong est mort... and Flating Anarchy (Here & Now Band) on vinyl and all from Gong and Allen on CDs. Keep on gonging!

Flying Teapot is my least favourite of the three, rarely listen to it, but Angels Egg and You are simply brilliant.

Gong are one of the most underrated bands and with one of the most original sounds in history.......They did a lot of great things in the various different lineups too. no one ever talks about it but "about time" by New York gong is an amazing album.....

Love the Gong trilogy, but mostly listen to individual songs on my assorted playlists. Thanks for inspiring me to listen to each of the three start to finish. HOWEVER, to set the stage properly, where might I find the text you read from in this? Before the sonic immersion, setting the table for the fable would magnify the experience…
