Easy really.. previous owner exaggerated the Mopars life, if you read about him, and his business, he deals in B.S. thats his job, he got what little information from his dads mates, and created a mystery car, naturally, anyone in his position, would want to get the most when selling a car, he had the perfect opportunity to do so, and he did, advertised it well, with lots of hype.. someone came along, and brought the thing.. problem was, too many believed his story.. 😕😕😕 Now.. to wait and see, if the new owner accepts his scam or not..

ONLY $600,000 after taxes! Basically all the son had invested in the car was the fuel system, the brake system and rebuilding the carbs and a tune up. Even paying someone to do that might be 3 -4,000 dollars. But beyond the profit that he made on his inheritance from his Father. A basically stock Hemi Challenger turned low 14 second 1/4 mile times. Look at the story his son produced. It shows them under the car and it didn't even have headers. The battery is in the front instead of over the rear back tire and it still has the sway bar in front. Those are just 3 modifications even some high school kid would had done to even be slightly competitive on the street against LS-6 454 Chevelles or 428 Mustang Cobra Jets. Much less REAL street racers. The Plymouth Satellite known as the "Silver Bullet" was running 10 second 1/4 mile times on the streets of Detroit from the late 60's to the mid 70's. Detroit in 1970 to 1975 was when this car was supposed to have been "unbeatable". Look at a show on Uncle Tony's Garage where he quickly debunks this car's so called racing history. Uncle Tony worked for many car magazines for years and specialized in Mopars most of his life. He saw this car in person at a car show and pointed this stuff out on his show. He said nothing to the son at the car show because he had just lost his Dad and he didn't want to be disrespectful. But when he saw this car being represented as being unbeatable in it's time and sold for the outrageous amount of money spent for it based on this legend. That's certainly misrepresenting a vehicle. He pointed out, also, that the man's Father had never mentioned any stories of street racing to his son his whole life. The stories came after his Father had passed by old timers that were friends of his Father or had supposedly seen the car raced. Most people know that old timers stories just get bigger and better. They won every fight and never lost a race. No matter how little they trained or how stock the car in question was. Whoever paid almost a million dollars for this worn out old muscle car is about to get a big drop in their assets.

I have spoke with Greg about the car, as he is somewhat local to me, seen him and the car at A swap meet, and Roadkill Nights, truly a beautiful car, but a lot of inside sources have told me the story is fabricated, even cars that weigh the same as this Challenger had motors which made 1/3 more horsepower than this car does, I’m sure it won many races stock for stock, but add a camshaft and porting job to a 383 or 440 charger and this car was in trouble, I have family that drag raced back in the late 70s in around the same area as this Challenger, never heard any legend or story of this car, yes there were stories of cars that couldn’t be beat, but those stories were from the Ramchargers and Chrysler Executives, Ford Powertrain Developers, you name it. This car was never any great thing on the streets in those days. All of those stories are bullshit. Did he race it a few times, yes but he wasn't some Phantom thing that came out of the woodwork destroyed everything erased against and went back because the car wasn't particularly fast. It was a nice 1970 Hemi Challenger, that's it. And it was never known as any damn black ghost at the time. The only car of any real note back in those days was the Silver Bullet. Time to auction off my grandaddys carousel red 69 Ram Air IV Judge that was known on the streets as “Orange Man Bad”. It’s the fastest 13 second car of all time. Probably the fastest man made object to ever exist. He was undefeated back in the day. Joe Brandon used to ride in the passenger seat when he was a senator. Joe would yell “C’mon man! SHIFT!” so my granddaddy would know when to shift. Cornpop was there too. Gramps used to put $100 bills on the dash before he’d launch it. If Cornpop could grab the money, he got to keep it. He beat Don Garlets rail dragster one time in a super secret unsanctioned street race for pink slips. Mr. Garlets got so mad that he refused to honor his word and didn’t give my granddaddy his car. No one knew of his legendary status as an undefeated street racer back then. He was just a baptist preacher by day who snuck out at night to slay 10 second cars with Jesus as his co-pilot. His GTO was so fast and powerful that he reversed the earths rotation and traveled back in time to save his fallen war buddies in Korea. He was going after Adolf next but he only got 5mpg and wasn’t sure if it could make that trip. A true legend. My reserve is 1 million USD. Let the bidding commence….

You can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time.......but let's face it..... this story is out now. Getting $500,000 would be a stretech for a fully restored PERFECT version of this car. To get $975,000 for it in this condition is a once in a lifetime thing. Smart man sells it. I've read many stories on this car. The owners son fabricated a fake story to raise the price of this car. The son is a documentary movie producer, does that add to the picture. The tow hitch was there to tow the owners motor cycles around town. It was seen towing the bikes'. The car was seen racing also, but it was only racing 12 to 13 second cars not what it has been portrayed as. The new owner bought a story not a mysterious ghost..

@@blackblack8224😂Oh yes they are. Maybe they’re not generally stupid, but the worlds full of wealthy individuals who are ignorant when it comes to a great number of things. They can indeed make stupid purchases and often do. Every restoration shop I’ve ever been to has at least one example of a stupid purchase that’s up on the lift with piles of money being dumped into it. Its money that will never be recouped. A lot of bidders at Mecum and Barret Jackson aren’t all that savvy. Many are there for impulse buying or jumping on whatever is being hyped.
There's no way a 14 second car could have done that, the owner made up the story about street racing. Google him and see what the company he owns does......

Was so allusive that it only towed trailers at night too
Time to auction off my grandaddys carousel red 69 Ram Air IV Judge that was known on the streets as “Orange Man Bad”.
100% BS.
Thats insane
Bizarre and a bit sad watching all those sycophants fawning over a car.
Street is different from track.. I don’t care about statistics when multiple people say they remember the car thats it…definitely not world’s fastest car but it was a runner the proof is there respect the black ghost 👻
Nice job on this scam!
fabricated street racing stories... by a story writer...
Has anyone heard of the ghost Camaro and Gods Rambo from Bosnia?
I hope he enjoys the money
There’s No Way In The World I Would’ve Sold My Family Heirloom! 😢 🤦♂️ 💔
LMAO, dads work truck ran that in 69, in Detroit!
A 1970 Chevelle with a 454-LS6 ran low 13s stock.
Biggest scam in collector car history 😂
Absolutely should have sold it!!! After all...... how many times can you really expect to get so much help selling a story that inflates a "reasonable price" by a factor of 6-10x. You can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time.......but let's face it..... this story is out now. Getting $500,000 would be a stretech for a fully restored PERFECT version of this car. To get $975,000 for it in this condition is a once in a lifetime thing. Smart man sells it. Only a fool would keep it.
45k miles with sunroof in floor.
I hope the kid is smart with the money
The Black Hoax. The film maker seller is a marketing genius! Yes he should have sold it - he's not a car guy, but he is one hell of a story teller. Too bad for the buyer, he is fairly well screwed with no chance of getting his money back in his lifetime.
Yep
A 340 Duster could beat this car, and Detroit from ‘70-‘75 would’ve had some really well-built serious street cars. But everyone loves a good story, right?
I've read many stories on this car. The owners son fabricated a fake story to raise the price of this car. The son is a documentary movie producer, does that add to the picture. The tow hitch was there to tow the owners motor cycles around town. It was seen towing the bikes'. The car was seen racing also, but it was only racing 12 to 13 second cars not what it has been portrayed as. The new owner bought a story not a mysterious ghost..
a scam....
If people really thought the car story was a scam, why would you let it go on this long" besides Its done and over with, New owner enjoy the car you paided for it
I hear the shift light was another person in the passenger seat.
Fastest towing vehicle made for that year according to j.d. power
This is has a contrived street racing story. No truth here. If true, cars in Detroit were slooow in those days. Save your money.
Congratulations Greg , well done 👏

LIE then do exactly what his dad told him not to. Yea good job being a piece of shit his father is horrified to have to share a last name with.
Sorry, no way this beat the top cars on woodward. Someone got scammed.
My dad always said "your kids have your stuff sold before your body's even cold." Case in point. What a dick for selling his dad's car. It only took long enough for the bullshit fairytale street racer story to be hyped by the auction company to sell it.
All fake story. This should be criminal. New owner deserves what he gets for not doing a little research. More$ than brains.
Storytime we'll just take a story made up and run with it and everybody that are suckers will go fall right onto it it's such a quick car like asked before is there anyone out there that's ever seen anybody race against his car besides its image in the window of a store
Listen up : a true deal of a lifetime people !!! i hava 1962 Pontiac GTO - yes no typo - 1962 - sittin here right now with major iconic street racing history AND a bonus 'placard' that includes all details of when my 'Mother' (God bless her soul) had originally raced this 'one of a kind' 'ultra rare' piece of american history with full blown story behind its enourmous racing heritage between '63 thru '70 !!! Its now for sale for ONLY ... 2 million dolleers ... and I would even consider alll offers above 1.9mil to help show I'm not greedy or racist in any way as long as u pay in 'cash' only - it will surely sell within a short time period SO best start gathering your $$$ - Mecum's already on the line as I scribble this !!!
