$2 Million CUDA // 1970 Plymouth Cuda 440 Rapid Transit Show Car // Mecum Indy 2023
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
A 1970 Plymouth Cuda 440 Rapid Transit Show Car, one of the four original Plymouth Rapid Transit System Caravan traveling road show cars, was recently sold at Mecum Indy for $2 million.
This particular Cuda, with only 967 miles on the odometer, has been hidden away for over 50 years. It was built for Plymouth by renowned customizer Chuck Miller and is considered a mechanical masterpiece. As an early production car, it bears the serial number 100005 and retains its original 440 6-BBL driveline.
The car was part of the Rapid Transit System Caravan, a factory group of custom cars displayed at auto shows and dealerships in the early 1970s. The car's unique design features, original paint, and excellent preservation make it highly desirable among Mopar collectors. With its historical significance and iconic design, this Cuda is sure to be a prized addition to any collection.

It wasn't the price of the car back then, it was the cost of insurance.
So happy you guys sold it for that much peace of history. One day I’ll try to look up the build plate to find my dad’s 1970 dodge challenger I was delivered from the hospital in that car his girlfriend talked him into selling it years ago since then, he passed. I remember being able to use it on the weekends and I feel like I had driving it was freedom. Utter and complete freedom
loaded into a trailer never to see the light of day ever again.

Bidder # 303 and new owner would 11O% agree.
ALL 4 of the RTS cars need to be scanned and recreated in 1:18 scale die cast collectibles for all of us who would love to have that piece of automotive history in our homes. That would be the ultimate way of honoring the wish of the previous owner.
I used to watch your auction faithfully never missing it but it’s sad because now I can’t watch them because of being on a fixed income and can’t afford to have cable. You need to show the auctions on KZread again.

WOW 😳
Can’t imagine any current electric cars ever having the soul, or the investment value, of this ‘Cuda.
2 Boomers that saw the car at the RTS traveling show and they both wanted it, at the same time! It only takes 2 to have an auction!
👏
Cool and sad if that is the real story , the Ghost Challenger is a great car but is a fake story that generated a million.

The front of the car is just sick. What an amazing car with an amazing story.
Still remember the quick gavel on the Hemi Cuda Craig Jackson bought for himself. Three wasn’t any long drawn out auctioneer call. This would have sold at 600,000 if they did the same method
Another one in the 7 figures. WOW.

What a bargain.
Reminds me of a Benny Hinn ceremony.
That is so sick.
Lynnwood Brian 😈- I'm a mopar fan had a satellite muscle 💪 car I❤ it!
Chrysler pride in ownership. Money well spent.
I saw a video where they said the year before it was maybe a lime green, and the next year they wanted it to look fresh so they surface sanded the old paint and just painted the current design over it. So the original is still there to, that's free shit.

As an Australian 10-year-old kid i remember this ride from a trade magazine in 1973, I've had more than 1 Mopar (Dodge Phoenix 383) which broke my heart to sell (kids come 1st). This bought a tear to my eye...
Told you it would sell for a lot.

More money than brains.
In a way, this is more sad than exciting. That old dude kept it all those years - and never enjoyed it. Now he's dying in a nursing home and he can't enjoy the money either. Whom ever bought it - will most likely squirl it away again. And no one will ever enjoy it. It's a real shame to see. But I did watch. LOL
