I am new too the hobby. Bought myself a RTF quad with FPV, but not the goggles. Heard about Liftoff through you guys, bought it downloaded it. Did a few hours with the tutorial, and a few free flight in the simulator. I got my FPV goggles, first flight in the field, I went straight to full Acro mode, (I normally fly self leveling mode in LOS) was flying well enough, just need to work on my landings now. The simulator is a great training tool!

I'm practicing with Liftoff too, I can fly in acro, but it's not really clear how to land. I imagine that in real life, the first time I'll try a real drone I'll take off in level and switch to level when I want to land, else it looks like a suicidal in your first flight to take off and land in acro, even after hours of training with Liftoff. I mean what if the transmitter was not set correctly etc. at least in level you expect the quad not to do crazy things...

i just started to use liftoff to learn to fly, and your advice about flying it like it is your own $500 drone is priceless. i don't even own an expensive drone yet, but your comment makes sense because it's easy to just go full throttle on everything thinking that's the best and fastest way to learn when in reality it's just slowing you down and getting you frustrated. And your advice about using it for drills is great. The technique of drilling is boring and that's why it is highly underrated. That's why only the better to elite athletes, gamesmen, hobbyists, and professionals understand the true value of this training concept. thanks.

I can not describe how much I appreciate FliteTest's credibility. As soon as I heard what it was and that FliteTest contacted them because they just liked the product and wanted to talk about it, I knew I wanted it. I have been wanting to start flying drones for so long now, but have never really afforded it. I know this isn't the same, but it's going to give me a great indication as to if saving up for a drone is worth it for me. You may have caused a spark in me that will grow to a passionate fire for flight, FlitetTest. Thank you for that. (Yes, I'm aware of how cheesy that was.)

I got to test this little thing 2 years ago in geneva at a game convention while it was still in development, and got to speak with the guys from LuGus. After about 15 minutes of getting to know the controls, I was 3D-ing the heck out of the drones, despite not having any prior experience with drones. Great fun, and easy to get into.

I got this when it was still early access on Steam...its definitely the cheapest way to learn acro mode. Don't use a xbox/console controller though. They're too sensitive and they all have "return to center" sticks. You need a dead throttle stick with longer throws to learn how to fly hobby-grade quads. I bought a RTF Walkera Rodeo 150 earlier this year and the Devo 7 transmitter included a cable to connect the controller to the PC.

Blizofoz45 hot glue chop sticks to increase the throw angle and take the spring out of the throttle side of a $7-10 PC game controller and you're in like sin...almost literally lol

Blizofoz45 haha, yeah dude...it's not magic that returns it to center lol ...you'll have to probable remove the stick switch unit from the board to get at the spring mechanisms that you want gone. So if you don't know electronicals and how to desolder and solder then there's no chance you're herring it to happen for ya.

I try to use LiftOff whenever I have spare time. I tried DRL and while cool, DRL doesn't feel as realistic as LiftOff. I've been recommending LiftOff to all my friends. I truly believe sims help young and older people improve their flying skills. I remember back in 2005 learning to fly RC planes in just one day after training on the sim for a month or so. Also helps to start with a not so expensive drone or rc plane to take away the anxiety of an expensive crash.

First off thank you guys for the constant amazing content. I have been heavily interested in fpv for awhile now and doing as much research as possible. Being that I'm at that wonderful adult stage where "fun money" is minimal. I feel like getting a transmitter and a simulator like this would be a very cost effective way to get through the bumps and bruises of learning to fly. Would this be a good way to start? Fly the simulators and get comfortable before even building a quad copter, or will I be developing bad habits? Thank you for your input.

I use PhoenixRC 5.5 for everything but multi rotors, and use DRL for multi rotors. PhoenixRC with a entry level transmitter (DXe) runs around $120.DRL is free online. Also you can use a ps4//xbox control to play , but the point is to "Learn the Sticks" so whatever simulator you choose get a real transmitter to go with it. You don't have to burn you wallet either, a 6 channel Tx is a good start point in my opinion.

After trying to fly around on my PS3 controller, I'm ready to buy my first transmitter. I'll say this for the RealFlight series of simulators: I flew fixed wing on those exclusively, long before I ever attempted to fly a real fixed wing r/c. Then one day, my father, with decades of real r/c experience, let me fly one of his planes. He told me I was a better pilot than he felt like he was, and, I landed the first attempt without crashing. This was a feat that took him many months to accomplish when he first started flying.

Hello. I'm planning to get Liftoff, but I don't know how to rig up my RC transmitter to my PC, what dongle do I use and how do I make my PC identify the transmitter, calibration of the transmitter etc.

Is there a trial or demo available for this? I'm running a Hackintosh so I'm neither running Windows nor genuine Mac but would still love to try it. I only have a PS4 controller though.

Ive seen a plane have a swivel camera linked to a set of goggles that allowed them to turn n stuff.. are there any fpv planes or quads like that currently? Love acviation and drones and rc Ive just been a busy dude elsewhere and would love to dive right in lol. I just got a spark I know its a different class
