Rachel had a rat problem

Ғылым және технология

Rachel had a rat problem. They were eating the chicken food, chewing holes and making a mess.
Her solution? A Goodnature A24 self-resetting rat trap.
She took a few simple steps to get her rat problem under control. After clearing the site of food, Rachel used the Goodnature system to find the best trapping site, install her certified humane trap and get amazing success without the need for toxins. Now she is also set up for any future rat reinvasions.
Trapping made easy.

    Before you set this trap up, wash your hands with non smelling soap (plane ivory works best) and dry them with a towel that is just out of the wash or a clean that has not been used in at least 2 days. Then put on fresh gloves at least as thick as dishwashing gloves. Otherwise, your smell will be all over the trap and no rodent will go near it for at least three days.

    ive tried all sorts of traps. from normal snap traps to humane cages. this works everytime. ive found that the co2 lasts for around 24 kills. before replacement i found if you mount to a piece of wood. you can move it around the area. when placing on a board or piece of wood. dont put the trap no higher than 4 fingers width high. from bottom of board or piece of wood you are using. if you find the chocolate bait dosent work for. you use corn or seed in a little net bag instead

    This looks amazing, I have had a huge rat problem and these rats are very smart. What I noticed is they will learn that a trap is dangerous and they will just avoid it. It has me swapping traps around to trick their rodent brain. The most difficult rats to nab are the fully mature rats. They are super smart. If your up against rats it can feel like a war. And from what I have seen the rodents win every time.

    leokimvideo the point is that these so-called smart taps are no smarter than a snap trap in a box, but they are enormously more expensive. For the same price as one of these I can have 20 snap traps in boxes covering a huge area. I agree that some of the older (male) rats are clever, but it is the person using the trap that has to outsmart them, not the trap. You can outsmart more rats with 20 traps.

    I have been using snap traps in boxes for about 2.5 years now. I have caught over 250 rats. I have never caught a pet or a lizard. I did catch a blackbird once, but then I changed the way I placed the boxes (open end facing into vegetation) and haven't caught anything except rats and mice since then. It isn't a BIG problem at all. I tried one of the gas traps and caught one rat and one hedgehog before the trap stopped working properly. The gas traps can kill other animals too.

    I hate to guess how many I have killed over the last 10 years, I have only just now not noticed them last 6 months. Recently others around me are taking an effort in killing them too. But I have killed 1-3 every week for years, it was a never ending battle. Area was infested with them, but no one really noticed them outside. But I only had them under the house/walls/garage the one time, that was a pain. Go to bed at night, then you hear the chewing in the walls/attic area. I wanted to burn the house down to kill them at that point, but I knew a exterminator would do the same thing I was doing to get rid of them. I will say I did pick up a cheap pellet gun, and made a sport of killing them in the evenings when they would come to the bird feeders.

    We are purchasing through a local, large scale pest control company, so that eliminates the responsibility of purchasing of the traps directly. I will go on the torrent of good reviews, more than the one bad one that isn’t a common problem. It is frustrating having no response, definitely understandable. Did you receive any response since your post?….be honest. There are many amazing products with shit customer service out there. In our specific case, this trap is ideal for the conditions that need to be met, or other methods would be an option. Can’t use poison, has to operate in sub-zero temperatures, and be in closer proximity to many types of other animals than other traps can allow. Also, when people give bad reviews about not getting rats to go in the trap, it’s not the trap’s fault. All rats are different, and I’ve tried multiple different designs, which I’ve built, and modified, to try and get them. Some guys have rats that will roll into a bucket one after the other, or get into a snap trap with ease. The rats we have, especially adults, are extremely hard to trap. Couldn’t get one to roll, or drop into three different bucket traps, or to go into a pvc style trap that some places use as killing machines. It’s naive for people to think that a trap just doesn’t work.

    I've not yet had a failure placing a Tomcat brand plastic snap trap with a screw-in bait cup filled with peanut butter in an area where I've either seen a rat, found their droppings, or heard their activity at night. If you don't put snap traps along the routes they take, you will definitely not catch them. It sometimes takes a couple of days and you may need to adjust the placement of the trap based on additional evidence. But every single time a rat's been dogging me INSIDE my house, the critter got caught and died before I even checked the trap - with the exception of one that survived by getting caught at a weird angle such that the trap only down on its tail, allowing the critter to slip out of the trap while trying to exit my house through a small hole. The trap got left behind! But that was the last time I ever had a rat in my house. I guess that one learned a lesson. The trap being advertised here seems like a lot more work and a lot more expense! I'll stick to the snap traps.

  • @ahilal

    @ahilal

    My issue with the snap traps I tried was incomplete kills. The traps were just disappearing - attached to some rat that was running away. I began tying and staking them down and that’s when I began coming out to find rats half-killed by the trap in a hellish state of mutilation. If I have to put the rat out of its misery with a club, the trap isn’t “working” for me.

    There's a resson Rats are used for many tests...they are incredibly smart! I have had 6 variations of traps set in 1 area for 1 RAT! Glue, poison, Snap, live catch (2 versions), & water bucket ramp. The only thing these rodents enjoy more than food is SURVIVING! Super destructive & disease carrying. I spent the $ on this. I have videos of Rat eating food from snap traps (tied on), jumping over glue traps, avoiding entry of live traps, & ascending ramps to buckets of water, stopping just short of death fall. I pray this is the answer!

    Get a 3/4 meter (min) tall x 3/4 meter dia (min) or larger bucket. Use straightened coat hangar -> make small holes at the top of bucket 180 deg apart juts big enough for coat hangar dia wire. -> Thread into middle of coat hanger empty Tuna tin holed same size / way as bucket was -> With each end of hangar sticking out of holes bend them so it cant move out axially. With tin centered in bucket, at the outer edges only (edges away from hangar wire) put large amounts of peanut butter (approx equal so tin balances upright -> Put a heavy / long enough wood plank (2 x 4) leading up to one end of bucket wires -> Fill bucket with water half way. The rats will walk up wood, along coat hangar, to tin, reach out to eat peanut butter, the tin tips and rats fall into water / drown. Can trap many rats without having to service the trap (depending on bucket size). Very very economical - since peanut butter cannot be used in school / or often other places, it usually will become date expired before all gone, this leaves a way to use it up. Optional: Put antifreeze in water if low temperatures.
