Part one of two. The Top Gear trio set out on an epic race from a small beach on Japan's west coast to a monument to the Buddha of road safety located half-way up Mount Nokogiri, some 400 miles to the east. Pitted against Jeremy in his 193mph Nissan GT-R are Richard and James using the might of Japan's incredible public transport system and its fabled 200mph bullet train. Taken from series 11, episode 4.

Most of the time my resolution defaults to 360p. I will use 144p if the internet's that slow.

One of my parents is Japanese and she was the first to tell me about the fact that speaking aloud on mobile devices on public transport is seen as very disrespectful and frowned upon in Japan. Being from the UK, I couldn't imagine having the same principles applied to our public transport.

Everything is rude in Japan. Let's be real: It's a society of rules, germophobia, racism, and radical judgement. There's ceremony and ritual for every damn thing and people just go with it. That part at least is commendable. I rather enjoy having the freedom to be gross.

i saw this episode ages ago but after having studied japanese for a number of years (and after having lived there) it's hilarious to watch them struggle with Japanese. The best part was when they were like "The ice-skating man with the picnic table...but that's a man on skis playing a harp next to it" hahaha exactly how I felt when I first started learning Japanese.

Nissan say it produces 470bhp and 1 car had 507 - that's quite a difference. I'd expect them to be slightly different, but not almost 40bhp.

Yea, but let's not believe everything they say. All AMG engines are hand-built and they publish their bhp. Also, why would the tolerances of a hand-built engine be so huge that bhp varies greatly across cars?

No I know they were called datsun. It's just the way he says it reminded me of when they had the run to the border episode and he called the lfa a "celica" as to make fun of the car. I had a 1985 celica gt that I loved and it was like he was making fun of my baby.
As a Japanese, I really enjoyed watching this.
this was the first time i laid my eyes on the GTR, since then, it's been my dream car to have...

HELP!
I took a year of Japanese classes(although I've forgotten most of it) and it was pretty easy to pick up. The fact that it is entirely phonetic makes it simpler to remember words and phrases.
I recently watched this with my husband in the US. We enjoyed this episode a lot :) Thank you for coming to Japan!
This masterpiece is just never getting old.
I lost it at the "Bill Oddie" face mask
Ahahahaah when the car was in what I think was in voice command mode and started speaking Japanese. "Help!" xD
