    @@B2Roland the signs saying bridge closed don't imply that. The metal frame is probably in reasonable shape and the deck logs looked to be installed recently, so no rot to worry about. The risk is in driver error since the way is very narrow and has no guard rails.

    It helps that James chose a reasonable car for the trip for once unlike Hammond who decided to bring a pick up truck converted (not very well) into a monster truck and he has no concept for anything that’s outside of Birmingham

    @@GryphLane Actually it is crossed often, even by an old recycled School bus for public transportation twice a day. The locals recently started adding 4x8 sheets of metal over top of the wood decking. About 1/3 of it. I know this because I just recently drove this very same route on a 1,000 road trip through the mountains of Colombia

    I think this is one of the very rare cases where not having a seatbelt would be safer because even if you survive a fall you're just going to drown with vehicle It's weird how in very rare circumstances not following safety can actually save your life

    I recently did a road trip throughout Colombia and drove this very route and crossed these bridges, the one with the wood decking isn't quite as high as Jeremy and Richard was saying, about 40'. But the one with the rails perpendicular was twice as high. It was a fantastic road trip.

    My theory is it is an actively used bridge, I don’t think they really have the money for bridges just for animals there and also wouldn’t explain all the roads in between the bridges. Animals also don’t tend to like to cross man made bridges like that, the ones for animals are often disguised. Anyway, my theory it is actively used by locals but they can’t afford to put in a safer nicer bridge so they put up those signs saying no one is allowed to use it because then if someone does get hurt they’re not liable for it but it’s not closed off because people still need to use it.

    To cross such old and narrow bridge is really scary. It's scary just to watch. I have no idea what the guys felt crossing the bridge.

    I recently drove through that same area crossing those bridges and believe it or not a repurposed School bus used for public transportation crosses that bridge twice a day. Best road trip of my life to date.
