Raccoon 'pool party' caught on video

Memorial Day Weekend is a great time to take a dip in the pool. Just ask these raccoons.
Jimmy Sena of Huntington Beach says he woke up to his dog “going crazy” Friday morning. He looked out his sliding glass door and saw three raccoons taking a dip in his pool.

They are large enough to get out. I was a pool guy for 4 years and weekly would find baby raccoons, possums, birds, rabbits and even a few kittens drowned in pools. If you know anyone with a pool, they sell little ramps that can be put on an edge or skimmer so small animals can get out. Even a small towel on the edge held down with a concrete block can work.

@@mariantreber8055 , "Yuck up the water." I just bet that it's been okay with you for this man's dogs and/or other people's dogs or even some cats to go swimming in a pool. BUT, hey, I'm kinda of okay with that too because I know that the vast majority of swimming pools are filled with water that's been treated with chlorine, and a few other chemicals too. In addition, most swimming pools also have filters too. Oh, there's one thing that does irk me a bit when I've been near a swimming pool and that is seeing very young babies wearing diapers being put in the non-children's pool instead of the specifically designated pool or roped off section for them. Now, that's disgusting to me because it can be and is under the control of an adult normally, whereas with a wildlife animal it's just usually them trying to beat the heat and/or relax for a short time then they get out and go on their way to wherever. Just ask the people who live in bear country as in the high mountains like Lake Tahoe or Lake Shasta that have swimming pools cause they'd tell you this is true.

You should cover your pools when you don't use them for a number of reasons: 1. To prevent wildlife from drowning. 2. To get less pollution in the water, hence have less need for chemicals to keep it clean. 3. To avoid evaporation (if you live in a hot and dry area) and the need to refill the pool (and use more water resources). 4. To teach those raccoons a lesson that the polite thing to do is to ask for permission before they dive in.

I think this fear is sometimes warranted though … While this video is definitely adorable , raccoons CAN be mean little bastards . I’ve also heard they are known to kill for sport though I don’t know if there is truth to that. Someone told me they will pull chickens heads through chain link Fences and just leave them there even though they could easily pull them onto the other side . Again, I don’t know if there is truth to that but I’ve heard it from more than one source .

@cherryhoneyricola One quick story, Rocky got into the refrigerator and emptied everything on to the floor but that was the beginning he then emptied everything out of every jar, pickles, olives, Mayo, Mustard, broke every egg, food from the night before everything you can imagine a family of nine would have in a refrigerator. I walked into the kitchen and he was sitting in the middle of one of the worst messes I have ever seen in my life playing with and sampling the food and tossing the empty containers like nothing was wrong. He looked up at me reached up like I was going to pick him up and hug him like I normally did when I came home. It was truly a nightmare and a very costly one and he had no idea he did wrong. That ordeal cost me, I had to replace everything he destroyed but I couldn't replace all the cooked food he dumped onto the floor, my mother wanted him shot when she found out what he did, even with everything replaced I couldn't hide what he did. To this day I still laugh at the look of him sitting in the middle of that mess, this was back in 1972. He was mischievous as hell but the most loveable creature you could possibly imagine, he loved every one of us in our family including my grandmother. I could tell you a hundred stories of some of the outlandish things he got into but this gives you a little insight of his behavior.

I recently filmed a very funny duck pool party. There was a very large group of ducks, the pool is extra big and resort style with various areas in it…the ducks were paddling all over 😂, a couple of ducks got into a squabble. Others were showing off and being joyful flapping their wings on top of the water. It was funny as hell when they’d pop out of the pool to strut around or go nibble grass. If one did it a group of other ducks would copy them and follow along. It looked like a duck convention at a resort 😂😂😂😂😂. They were really enjoying themselves.
