    My wife has a Triumph Sprint 1050 ST and I have the 08 Bandit 1250. I can ride hers and when I think, 'wow what a great bike' I hop off and ride the bandit and all those feelings come back twice as strong. :)

    They are very good bikes. I was sad when they let them go for a few years here in the States, but when they came back this year and I got to ride one again... oh I want one badly now.

    I purchased a Bandit recently,, and this review was a big factor in my decision. Turns out the bike is absolutely amazing and actually even better than the reviewer got a chance to experience on the demo ride. Thank you Rabid Hedgehog for your measured and knowledgeable review

    I own a 2007 Bandit... almost exactly like the one in this video (same color too). The engine braking is big, everyone that rides it is amazed how much engine braking is there, so I have no idea what our dear reviewer is talking about. In my case I've made it super sporty, with all kinds of mods, 145 HP, 130 to the rear. Suspension mods, the whole bit. I've taken it to the track many times with the intermediate B group. I'll never sell it. It's too good a bike to sell, it's the perfect all rounder. Going to get a more track focused bike, but will always use this bike for round town riding, and longer trips, even though it's an amazing canyon bike, and I've taken it to Angeles Crest many times and have no problem keeping up with the GSXRs and BMW S1000RRs.

    Great review. Couldn't have put it any better. I added a Zero Gravity windscreen to help out some with the wind at highway speeds and a Yoshimura TRS slip on and I couldn't be happier with the motorcycle.

    I just purchased a new 2016 1250S left over from a dealer. First Suzuki I ever owned and I have owned tons of bikes over my 50+ years of riding. I can say this was honestly the best motorcycle purchase I ever made considering the performance, ride and cost, no other bike can touch it.

    I replaced the stock windscreen with a taller V-Stream and it made a tremendous difference. Also it has so much torque that you don't need to downshift below 40 mph. It has fierce acceleration in 6th gear starting about 40 to well above 100, just roll on the throttle and feel the rush.

  • @RabidHedgehog

    @RabidHedgehog

    The hallmark of a great motorcycle, power abundant everywhere! I did not mind the windscreen on this one. I generally ride nakeds anyways that have no wind protection at all, so anything is helpful. But the Bandit is a bike that deserves to have another go. Such an under rated machine.

    6 months review, added Oxford heated grips, mra higher windscreen, hepco Becker detachable luggage, 4k miles, nothing but joy and smiles, smooth, linear, plenty fast, awesome bike for the money, next up would probably be fjr 1300, much bigger but the bandit is smaller and more nimble, only nuisance is putting up with chain, ( dirty back wheel all the time, ample amount of rags and chain lube lol not really that bad, Michelin pilot tires are better choice. Thanks again

    I have a 2006 1200 S Bandit. It's the last year with carburettors & five speed gearbox. If I'd done some research I'd have looked for a later model with the injection & six speed. Still, I like it a lot. Sometimes I hit the horn when reaching for the indicators. I need to keep the revs over 4000 or it will foul plugs after a few months. I find it top heavy so I need to muscle it out of turns. The gearing is quite high so some clutch play is necessary in very slow traffic. It does have fantastic torque, the gearbox shifts very nicely & the ladies say the rear seat is very comfy, like a Gold Wing. I'm very happy with it, four years & 30,000 km later. It's currently having the forks rebuilt with some aftermarket progressive rate springs (I'm 100kg & felt it dove too much) & a front tyre fitted. When I got it there were spacers between the bars & the triple clamps. I don't know if they were standard or not but I removed them. I'm long in the torso & found my riding position far too upright but removing the spacers dropped the bars down & forward around 2 inches which vastly improved my comfort. I intend to replace the screen with one which is a bit taller & bowed outwards in front more as, due to my height I cop all the wind right in my face which causes a lot of buffeting & noise. I can't see anything AT ALL in the mirrors as my elbows are in the way. Still, love the grunty beast.

I'm not nearly as committed as you are to biking but I really do appreciate the money, effort and time it takes to provide insights like yours that helps people like me to better understand the machines offered to our hobby. It really does mean a lot. Anyway, don't blush, I'm just in one of those moods tonight. :p

    I rode a late 90s naked Bandit 1200. Could barely keep the front wheel down in 3rd gear. SO much torque. It felt much quicker than my FJR. That one was buzzy, but that's the old air-cooled one, without the balance shaft, I think.

    1250 will be good In the tropics where I live, lts liquid cooled, my 1200 air oil cooled kitty heats up too easily when idling, after 65000km it still gives about 15km per litre..but the cam cover gasket and oil passage O rings on the front have weakened and it drips some oil when I park it

    I ride the 2006, ''air -oil cooled'' version of the same old cat...I feel the less adequate rear brake single disc should be made bigger diameter for better rear brake response ....it relies too much on the front brake strength to tame the torque
