Ойын-сауық

Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan & Dr. Russell Barber discuss Jewish Mysticism on The First Estate broadcast on WNBC-TV channel 4 in 1979. Recorded on a VHS tape. This is the entire interview. I had previously uploaded it in two parts. Now KZread allows videos up to fifteen minutes.

I'm a Buddhist, therefore interested in meditation(also including different traditions). Out of anything on Kabbalah I've studied, Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan's books have been the most insightful.

This is not a custom. Rebbe Nachman of Breslov died at the age of 38, shortly after revealing the Tikkun HaKlali. Rabbi Nathan, who to use an analogy from English literature was the Boswell to Rebbe Nachman's Doctor Johnson, records how reluctant Rebbe Nachman was to reveal this remedy in the first place. Surely Rebbe Nachman realised the price this revelation would exact from him. The videos of Gedale Fenster here on KZread give superb insight into this.

Even Abulafia was not involved in practical uses of the magical parts of kabbalah either...it was pretty much accepted from the medieval times already that you don't use "Kabbalah Maasit" see Shaarei Kedushah from Vital...R' Yosef De La reina and Shlomo Molcho were involved in these things (trying to hasten the coming of the Messiah by force, thru magical practices) and both ended in tragedy..but using magical practices for not such lofty ideas but for your own personal gain or such that wud obviously be so much more so of a sin...
