राग शिवरंजनी का सीधा सीधा संबंध महादेव शिव जी से है।वैसे तो महान संगीतज्ञ जोड़ी शंकर जयकिशन जी के द्वारा शिवरंजनी में अनेकों अनुकरणीय संगीत रचनाएं स्वरवध की गई थी। मेरा नाम जोकर फिल्म के लिए मुकेश जी के द्वारा शिवरंजनी राग की कालजई प्रस्तुति "जाने कहां गए वो दिन" का कोई भी कही पर भी सानी नहीं है।शंकर जयकिशन जी और मुकेश जी की यह रचना आत्मिक अनुभूतिपूर्ण आरोही- अवरोही शैली में शिवरंजनी का सर्वोत्कृष्ट स्वरूप है।

मुझे संगीत रागो की कोई समझ नहीं है पर यह जरूर कह सक्ता हू की शंकर जयकिशन के संगीत अमर है उनकी रचाई गये गीत आज 50 - 60 साल भी ऐसे लगते है जैसे अभी रचे गये हो । कितनी बार भी सुनो मन नहीं भरता । उनकी मीठास कभी खत्म ही नहीं होती । वाकय मे वे संगीत के शहंशाह थे और हमेशा रहेंगे।

Thanks,I am 74 now. Recalled my youth. SJ are my favourite and they include at least one clasical tune in their films. Your explanation is equally good as your singing.

Sarat sir ,I am also in your age group. Only five years younger. But only we know and experience the beauty and magic of Shankarjaikishan's evergreen music. My friend's father in law was Jaikishanj's childhood friend. And Jaikishanj's birth place is not that far from my village. I still regret that I never got a chance to visit Vansada , Jaikishanj's birth place.

Excellent. In that era I used to listen all these songs frequently on radio and on loud speakers playing records. In that era, there were no modern advanced musical instruments, neither tape recorders nor LPG records and mobile and absolutely no knowledge about three main saptaka and ten thats, scales, alankara, chords etc. After 50 years in this mobile and internet era I understand the secrets of Indian music, Salute to late SJ how they used to compose such songswith great efforts putting enormous labour.

Appriciated your presentation regarding megic MD SJ my first fvt MD.

I appreciate your efforts of bringing raga based compositions of our legend music composers. Shankar Jaikishan is of course front liner

Nice explanation of the raag!It was indeed the absolute genius of SJ(along with their great lyricists,arrangers and musicians)that they could very effectively create superb immortal songs incorporating Indian raags with western beats like the waltz(1-2-3) 💚

Rag Shivranjani is a popular rag which was also a favourite of Raj Kapoor. You have explained so wonderfully. Shankar-Jaikishan had also composed songs on rare rags like 'shankara', 'zanan zan zana ke apni payal chali main aj mat puchho kahan', film Ashiq.

Absolutely enchanting, the recorded songshave so much orchestra that the in beauty of the raga is lost. This particular raga sounds close to Bhopali. Thanks for enlightening us.

बहुत सुंदर मन झूम उठा

1968 में ही शंकर-जयकिशन ने एक अविस्मरणीय breathless song "दिल के झरोखे में तुझको बिठाकर" बना दिया था। शत-शत वन्दन है इस जोड़ी को इस जोड़ी की एक विशेषता यह थी कि इनकी प्रत्येक फिल्म में न्यूनतम एक गीत की रचना में किसी न किसी राग का प्रयोग होता था। जैसे- १ छम- बाजे रे पायलिया- जाने अंजाने २ तू प्यार का सागर है- सीमा ३ कैसे समझाऊं -सूरज ४ झनक-झनक तोरी बाजे पायलिया-मेरे हुज़ूर ५ भय भंजना वन्दना सुन हमारी-बसन्त बहार ६ केतकी गुलाब जूही-बसन्त बहार ७ सुर ना सजे-बसन्त बहार

Remembering Jaikishan. He was a regular patron of a restaurant (Gaylord?) at Churchgate, Bombay. After his demise in 1971 at age only 42, that restaurant in his memory put a plaque or sign on Jaikishan's favorite table saying "Reserved for Mr Jaikishan" so that noone would sit there, and the sign remained there for 1 month. Such a great man. And so was his 7 yrs senior Shanker, born 1922.
