South Africa is a wealthy country. People don't realise they have been hypothesized by their government to not protest against their corruption but instead blame each other for it. Loadshedding has been with us since 2008 and R233 Billion was spent on a power station that makes less power than a generator. Yet since 2008, majority of South African refuse to vote out the ANC.

I was at Trevor's show yesterday, (13 Sep 23) and it was great! He also emphasized that SA is a great country going through a terrible time.

Stop pocket watching people who’ve made something of themselves, being South African doesn’t mean you have to do things for free. People are just not in a great head space

Awesome to know that Trevor hasn't bought into the negativity in the circular. Only a well travelled person can speak like that cause they know what SA is like compared to what the rest of the world offers.

Terrible time past 20 years. In New Zealand, if a business or businessman, steals or corrupts any person, every person knows and they do not do business with the owner again. The town in which the business is in will show it in the newspapers.

Luck is where preparation meets oportunity. So how prepared did Trevor needed to be luck? Tell jokes at the right time to right people. At least he is smart enough to recognize his oportunity and grab it. Most people are not able to see when oportunity knocks to their doors. Many others are not ready to embrace it. Is this good explanation enough to calm down your ego?

Saying someone got successful because of luck is flawed. Success is a combination of many aspects including hard work, good decisions, determination, jumping at just the right opportunity and then your talent. When you see a person who has made it to the top be aware that they did not get there by pure luck there was a lot involved from themselves to beat others who were as talented or even more than they are. Also a funny person not automatically funny to everyone because humour is very individual. I personally find Trevor funny and the next person might not. I also never found any of Richard Pryor stand up comedies funny yet he is hailed as one of the gods of stand up.

I am currently based outside of South African and only do you realize that South Africa is not the worst country in the world. When you experience the rest of the world it gives you a better perspective and thus you come to a conclusion that no country on planet earth is without issues. I am not dismissing that the current government is dismally failing but South Africa as a legal entity is not even near being the worst country in the world. Leave South Africa for 6 months and you will change your whole negative attitude about your country.
