R1Liz - Can-Am Ryker - First Ride!

My first time riding a Can-Am! The lovely people at Offshore Performance in Poole invited me to come and try a bike out, an entirely different style of bike than what I'm used to, and as always, I was very scared. Here's how we got on...
Let me know if you want to see more of these three wheeled bikes - there are many different variations in other styles and sizes.

Love your videos. And observations of not using back brakes. I had a trike for a couple of years but an intruder conversion, I found it super heavy steering to the point of having sore arms on long or twisty rides. I loved the lack of worry about falling over and bigger road presence. All be it strange at first. Fab to hear a true first ride review and the lack of clutch is appealing to me. They look fun with the right spec to make trike riding easier. Thanks for taking the time to ride something different. Ride safe, LJ

so many funny one liners in this vlog but "emotional support imaginary front brake" fully sent me 🤣 this was a really enjoyable watch, I've never given Can-Ams much thought before now but I'd totally be up for more three-wheeled adventures from you to see what these curious little beasties are capable of (not entirely sure I'd trust myself on one though - every time I get on a new bike my brain develops a case of amnesia and I can't remember what to do lol).

I love them, they’re quirky, drive well and are fun. I often take my other half’s out for a spin. You always get haters online, out in the flesh I get nothing but thumbs up. As for old style trikes ( 2 wheels at back.) I cannot ride one without the feeling that you’re going to crash every 10 yards. With a reverse style trike it’s power on, and off I go.

Ryker reverse, push the leaver down with your foot and drag it back. 285kg without the rider. Which mode are you in? You should be in eco. Rally mode turns off the traction. There is a 10cm roll stop after applying the break. Safety measures. Relax, breath and treat it like a normal bike. I'm about to do a 70k km review on a 2019 Rally. Still loving it. ❤🤟🏼

Not sure how it is where you are. But where I am it's a mixed bag. A lot of the older driver tend to lean toward the Spyder due to them being the better for two up riding and touring. But the Rykers are a lot of fun. I prefer the Ryker to the Spyder, mainly because of cost and the fact I like sitting low on the bike compared to higher up on the Spyders.

Hello, Liz. I have four powered two-wheelers and a Can-Am Spyder F3-S. The F3-S is just as much fun as my 'proper' motorcycles. 0-60 MPH in 4.8 seconds and around 130 MPH flat out [never done it]; about as fast accelerating and the same top speed as a Suzuki SV650. The Spyders are much better quality than these Rykers. Regarding safety: you can't fall off them. However, with it being a wide machine, you cannot escape to the side of the road. I have done that so many times on two-wheelers, especially abroad in Spain and Portugal. To answer your question: I couldn't give a damn what people think of my Can-Am when I'm riding it. If they don't think it's a proper motorbike, they've got the problem. Nick

@@R1_Liz Yeah I guess in 10 years of riding that hasn’t been a issue for me what has been is ladders falling off trucks, crap in the road, people on phones and cars not paying attention which is generally the same issues I have in a car. You have also guaranteed your hitting anything in the road with one tire or another. A road is very wide on a bike and gives you tons of options. On a bike I can split lanes in traffic and make it through the city very quickly. If you think your strong enough to hold yourself on that snow mobile in a accident or loss of control I have a bridge to sell you. It’s a sit down and hold on vehicle period with less options. The bike form has been around hundreds of years for a reason it’s extremely efficient.
