Your video is very informative, has lots of detail, and is thoroughly researched with great passion. Bruno Sacco's masterpiece of design and classic Mercedes Benz engineering. Great photography and editing with a mixture of your voice-over as well. I like 'the earning to drive'. I am a proud owner of a 320SL r129 with a pan roof. The r129 was my dream car as a young man growing up in the 1990s. Your video is a pleasure to watch! Thank you :)

Quick note . There is no “sport” mode. S= summer W = winter. W starts in 2nd . There is a third facelift that came along a little later 😊

@@YoungFilmmaker Great video and looking forward to the V6 review, as I bought a SL320 V6 last summer. First-time registration was 06/2001 (Milano, Italy) so it is one of the very last R129 ever built. Cheers from Ken - Copenhagen, Denmark

Thanks, another great instalment of R129 content. The rear seats were not allowed in the US and I think Japan too. Most other countries have then fitted instead of storage compartments and a Bose sound system.

final drive ratio of the 320 is 3:40, the 500 is 2:60. 0-50 mph the pull almost feels the same.

@@johnoneil6206 Thank you for sharing the information about the final drive ratios. I didn’t know the exact numbers but you are definitely right as the 320 climbs the revs much faster from a 0 to 50mph - thanks to that ratio. Cheers for watching 🎬

hard to believe the same company that built that is responsible for some of the trash that's on the road today. Love 366 paint. What color is your canvas? Interesting contrast with the Brilliant Silver pano. I've never driven a 6, but have read that they can hold their own agains the late 500's & even the 600's which were particularly heavy in the nose with that M120 shoehorned in the same engine compartment that an SL280 used haha. I'd imagine the 320's got the same 21 gal (enormous relative for a 2 pass roadster) fuel tank, so you can probably get a ton of life out of a single tank even if you put your foot down pretty regularly.

320 and 300 models were never made with 4 speed. Earlier versions used 722.5 transmission, which is the same hydraulic 4 speed as the 500sl but with an additional electronic overdrive gear. And the one you drive post facelift has the 722.6 which is an all electronic 5 speed.

@@Golde2Good Cheers for watching my video, I hope you enjoyed. I have driven many pre facelift 500, 320 and 300 and they all share the same 4 speed hydraulic gearbox. There will be more reviews to come and I hope you will continue to watch the series 🙌🎬

All models had 4 speed hydraulic box at some points in the evolution. The 5 speed with electronic overdrive and the horribly low ratio 1st gear came and then the 5 speed electronic as the technology evolved. So the video is correct.

I forgot you had m103 SLs across the pond. All 300SLs in the states were M104s with the hydraulc+1 5 speed up until the facelift.
