r/Pettyrevenge How A Waitress Got Revenge Against A Rude Karen

Комедия

r/Pettyrevenge In today's episode, a selfish Karen tries to scam a restaurant out of free drinks by claiming the drinks were made wrong -- after she finished drinking 95% of the drink. The bartender and waitress conspire to get some petty revenge by intentionally making her drink wrong this time around to see if the snobby customer would even notice. Nothing wrong with being a secretary, but as a professional woman, it's ridiculous how many men think you're automatically a secretary. As if there is no other job you might actually hold in a company. Extra props to all you ladies in IT. I can only imagine what you go through.

My mom graduated from college with a degree in engineering and got a job at a tech company in the late 70s or early 80s. Her 1st day at work a coworker walked up to her and said "I could use a cup of coffee." She responded "That sounds great, can you get a cup for me too."

@@tacobanana6538 Its true. Secretary's usually appear in presence for the boss, and they would rather then look better because they don't know too much about what the boss actually does, so they are mostly wommen. Only problem is this applied in the 80's. They have no right to assume that now of all times.

I'm stuck with an older woman who's relatively nice most of the time but is a jerk and has these bad moods and the majority of us who work around or near the Customer Service desk aren't fond of her. Weirdly, she has this one annoying habit where she closes those doors on the desk while "requiring" you to go all the way around where she's standing (no idea if she's right to do that; we usually just leave the doors at that desk wide because we never had any issues with customers taking advantage of that and tend to be respectful of that boundary, but she's still rude and we dislike her because of issues from her).

I'll never understand how people can't figure out there's no booze in a drink. Every spirit has a distinct flavour (to me, rum is plasticy, vodka is like hand sanitizer, whiskey is smokey and brandy is like paint stripper). Plus, you FEEL it. You can't drink alcohol without feeling it get in your system. The only booze you can't taste is hard seltzer.

  • @tookitogo

As a cocktail aficionado, I largely agree about it being noticeable, but I have had some cocktails where you really couldn’t taste the alcohol, even though it most definitely contains a full measure of it! (Bourbon, by the way, not vodka: a high end vodka is truly tasteless, LOL!) (As for your descriptions of the flavors: I suggest trying some better quality brandies and rums.)

@@tookitogo Yeah, I've heard of those drinks before but the more common ones the people in the video buy tend to have the taste still. And it was pretty obvious I buy cheap, huh? XD To be fair, I think it depends on the store, I've had two cheap whiskeys before, one was smokey and good, the other tasted like liquid earwax.

  • @tookitogo

    @tookitogo

    3 жыл бұрын

@@WolfyFancyLads IMHO, the correlation between quality and price varies wildly depending on the type of spirit. With vodka, you only need to go slightly better than the cheapest. Cheap bourbons are really not bad. Cheap rum is all over the place. And cheap gin is just horrific. Whiskeys (and other spirits that have long barrel aging behind them) are strange, strange beings, regardless of price. They can range from smooth to rough, but also have qualities that are hard to explain. For example, one of the whiskeys we tried gave a mouth feel that I can only describe as “cottony”. Some are peppery. Some are floral. Others leathery. I’m not a huge whiskey fan, but a good friend once took me for a tasting at a high end bar. With many whiskeys, a drop or two of water wakes them up and makes them smoother and fragrant. Such was the case with most of the ones we tasted. (We always tried them straight up first, then with water.) But one, it went from smooth without water, to instantly acrid and unpalatable. So we set it aside and continued onto other ones. Towards the end, we’d finished all the others and had only that one left, and didn’t want it to go to waste (since it was expensive) and so planned to just chug it. To our surprise, it had calmed back down and returned to smoothness.

@@tookitogo Honestly, when it comes to gin, I've yet to try it clean. I've had mixers, which were bitter as hell. Apparently, that was the tonic water, which at least taught me never to order G with a T. :P I'm actually quite fond of good whiskey but I've never mixed them with much beyond the occasional soft drink (I normally drink straight). I used to be mad about vodka but one too many bad times with it has left a bad impression on my stomach, the smell of it makes my stomach turn, so it'll be a while before I try that again. I'm honestly curious to other alcohols out there, like absthine, but the price tag often puts me off. That and I'm not fond of having to drink a bottle of something I dislike the taste of, cos that's happened a few times...

Shady things happen to shady people. One time when I lived with my ex MIL and my ex husband, she found a $10 bill in the dryer from my laundry, and said "Should have emptied your pockets, its mine now!" I remembered that, well the idiot didn't believe in having a bank account, and kept her money in her pockets, and other places. I happened to find a $50 bill in the dryer from her laundry, as I was folding it, she tried to grab it from me to which I replied "Should have emptied your pockets, it's mine now!" That poor excuse for a woman hated me, and is married to a 3 time convicted chomo.🙄 She nor her son sees my daughter.

When I worked the line at a truck stop I absolutely HATED bricking the grill! The heat and steam was awful on my skin! But you couldn't clean a grill properly without doing this. But we also used deep fryers that needed the 5 gallons of oil replaced regularly. Disposing of hot oil was dangerous and difficult. If I had to deal with a lazy and incompetent coworker at the same time I could never have lasted.

the last story reminds me of when i first started work at the warehouse that I'm still working at (I started off as a bulk order filler). I worked 2nd Shift and to begin with I had to label and throw products onto the line before I could be handed a unit with a headset. I'm usually the "happy-go-lucky" guy but this one woman from 3rd Shift slowly began pissing me off. In this one MOD I was assigned to, I usually had another order filler throwing alongside me and we would take different levels, my coworker on A level and me on C level, and when it came to end of shift my coworker would be cleaning A level and I would be cleaning C level and we would both clean B level until my coworker began leaving without me knowing while I'm cleaning C level. I come down the stairs to see if my coworker needed help with A level but instead I saw this woman from 3rd Shift and she was already fuming. She screamed at me for not switching out the trash bags as they were filled with plastic. My coworker was usually one who did that and I tried to explain that my coworker usually did that and I was on C level cleaning, but the woman interrupted and called me a liar while claiming that I'm the only one there. I proceeded to switch out the bags as calmly as possible while she was already labeling and throwing while trashing me about "lousy housekeeping" and such and I usually tuned her out and tried to keep as much patience as possible. This went on for about a couple of months and what got worse was that I did eventually have the whole MOD to myself so I had to clean all three levels and the first thing I did was throw away any loose plastic on B and C level and then I would go to A level and switch out the trash bags and put in new fresh ones while I cleared out the plastic on A level. Well, after I finished, I went back up to B and C levels to double check and make sure everything was all clear before I could call for a walkthrough. I did as such and the manager came and checked all the levels and gave me the okay as well as telling me that I did great before he left. Well I grabbed my phone and charger on B level, checked my music playlist and everything, before I head downstairs. Well, the angry 3rd Shift lady had already arrived and was already throwing but she saw me and called me out. Apparently, I didn't switch the bags and there were damaged products on the pallets where there weren't any to start with as I already removed any I found and there were already plastic in trash bags (not full). In disbelief, I explained that the bags were already switched and the damaged products were removed. Again, I got called a liar and was shown a few boxes of tampons crushed but the way they looked crushed, it was like someone smashed them with their hands. I explained that they weren't smashed before and she went on a full screaming tirade about her being called a liar and how she worked there longer than me nonsense. I ended up switching the bags while she was still ranting, but at this point I was already about to snap. When she started calling me lazy and unreliable, I threw down a crushed box of tampons and just walked out before I said anything, leaving her to deal with the trash bags and damages herself. The next night was the final straw for me. She screamed at me for leaving her to deal with the bags and damages herself and that "her back was hurting from all of it" and that I should be ashamed of myself. She threatened to report me to the manager for my incompetence and I interrupted her and said "I'm not going to take this from some old battle-axe that belongs in a museum." She went all bug-eyed and screamed "WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY?" I gave a smile and said cheerfully, "I'm sorry. I forgot that when it comes to age, hearing is the first thing to go so I'll speak louder." then I yelled "I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS FROM SOME OLD BATTLE-AXE THAT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!" (she wasn't really that old but I was angry). Her face turned into different shades of red before she went off on me and threatened again to report me to the manager and I told her to go ahead and that I would also be counter-reporting her as well as filing a complaint to HR and corporate about her mistreating another fellow employee. She immediately shut up and since then, I've never heard a peep from her, even after I was moved from the MODs to the back wall (due to my manager being impressed with me running a lot and he thought I'd be much more useful in the back wall for the running) and so on.

story at 6:05, sadly too many young men (and women) fall into this exact style of thinking. Assuming the world and everything revolves around them and their happiness. Once you grow beyond this childish mindset you can have real relationships and love... before that its simply impossible. He 100% should have given the girlfriend the new laptop, this is a present that would have been 3fold in his favor. 1. showing appreciation for the use of her old laptop 2. showing love by giving her something you would really like 3. putting your S.O. first, a true power move and the one that's hardest for young people.

I had plenty of patronising clients when I was an events project manager. I have a unisex name, so often people would ring my phone, hear a woman's voice, and assume I am my own secretary. People default you as a man so often and I hated being called things like 'dear' over the phone.

Similar story to the drink one: I work as a Starbucks barista (honestly one of the worst jobs to have) and this lady and her son order like three drinks. Two iced lattes that are pretty standard, and a Dragon Drink, which is the dragon fruit pieces, the juice, and coconut milk. It was a rush and I was working the cold bar. I make the drink and hand it off to them, then turn around to continue making drinks. I hear the son say “Mom, that’s not a dragon drink, it’s supposed to look different! They made us a Pink Drink!” Now this kid is probably like 8 so no hate on him, but the dragon fruit pieces stain the liquids, making it look very pink. So the lady come basically behind the bar to yell at me for making them the wrong drink. I was like “Oh? What did you order?”, “A DRAGON DRINK not a PINK DRINK!” … “Ma’am that IS a dragon drink…” “NO ITS NOT! My son said this is a pink drink!” … “Ma’am look at the drink up on the sign right there, that’s our dragon drink AND our pink drink side by side. They are both pink… See how your drink has the dragon berries and NOT strawberries, as well as completely different juices…” … “Hmm, guess your right.” Then she walks out of the store with her kid in tow. I need to quit…

The last story reminds me of working shift lead at a Pizza Hut. We had a new store manager and one night we got slammed and stayed much longer because of such. The next day when I cam in for a shift I was berated and given a list of four things I missed on my close. So the next time she had to close and I opened, I made a VERY detailed list of all the things she missed more than twice the length and badgered her with the same comments she threw my way.
