Réparer un cardan / CV shaft repair

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

If your cv shaft is noisy when you full lock the steering wheel and roll,it's not a good thing,That mean the boot is torn since a long time,all the grease was centrifuged on the wheel well,and the repair is not really worth it.

    Hello, Generally ,when it's clicking,that mean that the shaft 's joint ran for quite long without grease,wich was centrifuged because of a damaged boot. The best is to clean up everything and to see if there is some play in it. But i doubt you can repair that. However you can use it still,but it will be noisy.

    The old grease can be one year old,if you rip the boot apart because of an impact while driving,so it's not that old. The point is to not contaminate the grease with dust or water,its age is far from important : you can keep an axle sealed 20 years and nobody will even complain about the grease age...simply because it's sealed and still considered good.

    Defective CV joints make a clicking noise when turning.how was that rectified?is it enough to add grease and change the rubber boot?

  • @michaelovitch

    @michaelovitch

    4 жыл бұрын

    Once it's making noise,it's over,the part is damaged. On certain CV shafts,you can buy a repair kit with the new articulation,(male and femelle) and you keep the shaft itself. It depends on how is made you complete transmission ,rebuildable or not. If you clean up,add grease and change the boot, you can reuse the transmission yes,but the noise will stay. It will be noiser and noiser over time,generally a long time.

    Salut, A huile c'est moins cher,et suffisant si on ne fat pas le pilote de course avec. Une clé à choc c'est bien si le compresseur d'air débite assez. Une clé à choc électrique est un peu plus grosse mais fonctionne bien. Faut voir les valeurs de couple qu'elles peuvent produire. Le plus difficile sera les écrous de cardan serrés autour de 200 Nm.

    Maybe, but if there's the hole on the boot and the boot its'self is (when the vehicle is turning) creating the pressure and the vacuum, sucks in any dirt around it. As to how much dirt is in the grease you can't always judge buy it's color. I would rather take a little extra time to wash thoroughly all the old grease out of it and then just put in the fresh grease as he has done. A little extra work just to stay on the safe side.

    Yes,and it's in the title, and everybody here call that "cardan" here in my country. I don't make the common vocabulary of my country. They even call a scan tool for the EOBD port a "valise" (suitcase) simply because 30 years ago, a model of scan tool was in a suitcase...

  • @zlatkozivkovic8694

    @zlatkozivkovic8694

    @@michaelovitch Cardan is not constant velocity joint. CVT is known as "homocinnetic joint" meaning that the speed of spinning is maintained trough entire circle at much greater angle than cardan can do. That's why they use CVT or homocinnetic joint (which is much more expensive than cardan) on most vehicle half shafts (drive shafts) and cardan is used at much shallower angle at which it can maintain the constant velocity...mostly at transferring power to the rear wheels where range of angles is not that great. Not trying to nitpick , the video is great and we can all appreciate it, just commenting on terminology. Great job.

    Yes,you are right. The boot was damaged by us when we removed the cv shaft to repair the second boot on it. So it was not contaminated by dust. The grease itself last very long,as long as the boot is in good shape,so we didn't clean it,it was only 6 years old.
