This video is clipped from an explanation so it's missing a lot from the explanation. Answers to things that might confuse some: 1. Ustadh is speaking about 8 verses on the page because he used surah Jumu'a as an example for the explanation and the first page of that surah has 8 verses 2. Connecting the first and second part has parts missing from the explanation. After finishing with the first part of the page you move on to the next verse, repeat it 20 times but then repeat the previous verse (last one of the first part of the page) with the new verse 20 times. After that you move on to the next verse and do till the end of the second like it was done when going through the first part. 3. The part here about going from 5th to 8th verse is about going over the second part after you finish memorising verse by verse and connecting them. So you go over the whole 2nd part 20 times. 4. You finish by repeating the entire page 20 times

I haven't watched the full vid, but in another vid on this topic he also said to connect the last ayah of a page with the first ayah of the next page so the pages are connected.

That's because you have to connect the previous ayah with the current ayah all the time. Best tip for memorization.

with every memorisation we rewire our brain, repetition is necessary, I listen to Surah Qaf every Friday and I am able to pick up a good chunk even without conscious memorization. its all repetition, BRAIN, - you don't use it, you loose it

What i follow is, recite 5 to 6 times just by looking at the ayah until it goes into my head temporarily. Follow it up 20 times(or any specific number) without looking at it. And do the same for the next ayah, and then connect and do the same. I reduce the first repetition of 5 when I recite it along with the next ayah though. (this is something that I follow. You can obviously work on your variation in sha Allah)
