    Imagine doing everything in your power to do the right thing, not to overstep the parasocial dynamic between him and his editor, and being as respectful as possible, and you still get dragged through the mud for being socially awkward.

  • @varvarvarvarvarvar

    @varvarvarvarvarvar

    Social awkwardness is not a harmless thing! You know, it's kind of sleazy to have your own Discord cult of personality clique. It's more sleaze on top of that sleaze to reach there to enlist a volunteer of the opposite sex. If that's what doing everything in your power to do the right thing looks like, then someone got badly misinformed about what the right thing looks like. He only really tried to do the right thing when things went into full damage control mode. Granted, it's better than not cluing into doing it at all, but c'mon, he actually was handed a lesson about what the right thing looks like here. He was deservedly dragged through just enough mud for not understanding social dynamics, and he got it light in the end, because most people looking at this from the outside see two dorks.

There are things which would be instantly called out and criticized in normal communities but in other they are perfectly normal or even encouraged. I think the best example of that are MLP fandom and furries.

    Her response is something that you'd see when there's been a romantic relationship for several years or a marriage that goes south. Seems to be a newer trend that people are so starved for attention that they demand the world from basic interactions. Which is usually just a one-way street for them. Beyond the fan-girl act, she was looking for a confrontation or argument from the get-go. His mistake was not pushing back but treating her with kid gloves each time. In fact the fan-girling should have been a red flag and the bigger mistake for not catching it in the beginning. Except for cases where someone is desperate and in need of charity or a chance, anyone who's over solicitous and without some degree of professional or personal reserve to strangers, they not only don't respect themselves, but will eventually not respect you or your own boundaries later on. This is the dirty little secret to why anyone famous usually gets jaded or insane towards strangers when they tell them how much they mean to them - the love of fans is fickle, and demanding.

Please have some perspective for gods sake. Trying to make friends/communicate with people on social media is kind of the whole point. This is hilarious for two reasons. First, while Quinton started off as a Doug Walker clone, he transitioned into making BreadTube content. BreadTube is a loosely affiliated collection of revolutionary socialists on KZread. He jettisoned most of his apolitical audience in favor of cultivating an audience of socialists. These aren't just people with a rebel attitude, to borrow EJ's language. These are people philosophically committed to siding with "labor" over "management," or in this case siding with the editor over Quinton. Second, Quinton went full neckbeard himself after connecting with BreadTube. Lindsay Ellis in particular called him out for his unending attempts to talk to her. As I recall, ContraPoints had a similar reaction to his obsessive attention. I'm guessing since it looks like his videos these days are mostly about old Nickelodeon shows he may be steering away from politics and getting a broader audience again. That said, it's really funny to see this happen to a guy who once attacked PewDiePie for daring to "humanize" Ben Shaprio. Always a delight to watch a bunch of entitled, immature, 20-something socialists collapse into drama.

    Regarding many of the comments: no, what Quinton said or did in regards to Lindsay Ellis or Sarah Z is nowhere near as bad as what this editor did to him, but most people still mad at him probably know that, and don't care if he was or wasn't harassing women at some point of his life. They're probably just mad at him because of other things that are harder to criticize or give proper context to in our current year. Some of the comments are being more explicit about criticizing Quentin for this "other stuff", but intentionally or not, they're leaving out a lot of relevant information.

    Imagine making a long winded video just to say "To Boldly Flee was bad!" *NO, YOU DON'T SAY! NO WAY, NO WAY, NO WAY!* But, there was only ever really one video that said something similar and was worth watching: TheAllMightyLoli's Video. In it didn't really fixate on the movie that much, because there really isn't anything to be said about other then "It's bad, here's why." Instead it fixated on the allegations against Doug and his Company and how most of them were seemingly fabricated by the B and C-Tier memebers that were upset they weren't as popular as Doug, Joe or Spoony. Basically the A-Tier.
