I picked up a few new tools and borrowed a vice quick tram from work. I show just how quick and easy it it to tram a vice this way.
Жүктеу.....

I've used a precision ground angle plate and a precision ground flat plate together to align my vise in the same manner but it is cumbersome (one almost needs three hands). Your device is simpler and far superior. Thank you for sharing. Now I have another project to build.

It took an insightful guy to make that tool to begin with, and another to figure out what it was for years later!

Hm, that tramming device looks like a handy thing to have in the workshop! Thanks for showing, I guess I'll have to make one of these!

Hi Paul, That's a nice piece of kit. You just have to make it nicely from the start. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Tom

We like to visit the first video for a channel when we sign up see some of my USA fellow creators have posted here. We selected this video as it appears to be the first machining operation related to our interests. Yes to long handled pliers double action is really nice to still be able to close even with two hands they are a rel life saver in a pinch. Nice quick square tram unit never seen one but it makes sense if all is, as you share clean surface, burr free and all that, we would still need to indicate into final perfection for our tolerances then use after your borrowed tool is removed. Thank you, Lance & Patrick.

I use that same surface to align plate flat, on the table or sitting on parallels, in some set ups! Great tip of using that surface! ;{)------

Paul, Good idea. Wonder what the indicator measures after doing it with this fixture?

Just tram the vise with an indicator. Do it every time you re-position the thing. After a while it becomes no more complex than tying shoelaces .

Just wondering if you as you say clocked the vise to see how close you quick tram was? Great idea using that surface as a reference. Thanks for posting.

It's within a thou or so. Some people are a bit obsessive about dialling the vice in pefectly. You can really annoy them by giving the table a quick tug on one end. Usually there's more play in the gibs than the accuracy to which they're trying to tram.
