Quick Tip: Repair a Stuck MX Master Gesture/Thumb Button

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Logitech MX Master series mice have a weak spot: the thumb button. It can get stuck and stop working correctly, causing errors for the correct tracking of the cursor. To repair the gesture button, it's actually really easy. All you need is two different screwdrivers and a little bit of time.
So in this video, I show you how to perform the repair and make your Logitech MX Master work again!

I'm in my 4th Logitech mouse and I have got exactly the same problem. Logitech makes some of the most premium mice while being the least reliable at the same time

Yes the design of the mouse is only halfway repair-friendly :P If you’re interested there’s a link in the description to some replacement pads :)

Worked great for me! It's a T5 sized Torx screwdriver for anyone interested! If we disconnected the whole gesture button, would that work too? Thinking down the line if this becomes a recurring problem.

It's totally a reoccurring problem. I've tried adjusting the screws a couple of times, then wedging stuff under the button - somehow worked itself into position to close again. Currently have removed the switch with wire still connected and pushed it inside the body of the mouse. I guess the next extreme would be too disconnect the wire, but not sure if that will break it...

@@rosmcmahon Interesting, has moving the switch inside felt like a permanent fix to stop it from ever registering as "pressed"? I don't mind sacrificing this functionality entirely to make sure I can use the mouse regularly

that's called "torx" because it's star shaped. Not a hexagon.

Each time I get more extreme and think it's gonna be the final fix. Currently have removed the switch, and pushed it into space within the mouse. 4th time is the charm 🤞

Still the best mouse I've ever had. I don't use the gesture button anyway.

Yes that is the final working fix: I did the same. But after using a 80g gaming mouse for a while I will probably never go back to the 2S paperweight

@@user-rk6ir8cq6p I'm using a keychron M1 now, very light also. For me, it's more about switching things up to try and keep ahead of my RSI/Carpel tunnel. Personally I'm a bit heavy handed so the weight in the 2S is preferable
