What an awesome video!! Looks like a lot of fun and weather was perfect. How easy was it to find the squid? I was thinking that jigging the squid leader would of got you more squid maybe? I just priced that camera and, wow, very expensive, so thanks for taking the risk to bring us some great video of how fish approach our offerings! Again great video!

The boat is a 2018 Duckworth Advantage 18. It’s a little under 19 feet in length. All the fishing extras you see were installed by Jim of Reel Custom Boat Works. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Because I only get to go out a couple times a year I study your underwater vids to see how the Lings hit the different baits. Squid and Dabs are my favorite to use but the party boats don't always go out to catch bait. I have several types of artificial in my box and the Lings still go after the squid! I rig them a bit differently than the manufacturers do to present them as more real looking. All because you risk your underwater gear. Thanks you!!

It's called a squid jig.Squid attack it because they think it's a cluster of eggs getting away and they grab it to take them back to their nests.Jig it up and down slowly when you feel weight reel in. Down in so. CA we hang lights over the side and brail them when they float. That ink doesn't wash out of clothes

The best lingcod jig is a banana sinker with a treble hook. 3oz for shallow water 6-12oz for deeper.

Hi Chris. How far did go out for squid’s, and where are you launch at?

Chris you should got after the white sea bass in monterey bay. They are huge. 65lb. The sea bass follow the squid into the bay.

Cool live cam! Now why don't they sell live or local squid for bait?

Do you think a different style squid jig would hook more? Seems like lots of them hitting but only a small number are hooked? Or are they only staying on when reeling up and they attack?

OK new to fish finder and how to use. How did you tell squid were on your screen??? also what general area of the coast were you fishing, within 5 miles maybe

A squid hit the camera

Come to Washington and get some decent ling's. My pb that I had to release was 45lbs because Puget sound has a slot limit. At that time it was 24-40". My biggest keeper from the sound was 38" and my biggest keeper from the ocean is 48". I've caught plenty of 20 and 30lb . The smaller ones are great eaters. A 22-24" the wife and I can eat fresh for a few days. I don't like freezing fish.

Going to have to hook up that camera again..maybe a foot or two higher, wider view to watch them inhale bait. Nice Video folks!

generally not like a school of anchovies. School of bait fish is very tight and shows up as a dense ball. Squid are spread out a little more. So lots of little fuzz or dots, on mine its a bunch of little dots. not sure if that helps.

Is there any place near the Golden Gate to catch squid?

they are around but harder to target. generally you want to be where the squid boats are.

thats the goal. its hard. Water is too dirty where I fish for them mainly (sf bay & outside GGB). I have a video from last summer in monterey bay with halibut, but none bite. But you still see them. Thanks for watching, hopefully I get that footage soon!

i am confused.

Chris I got a question is it even legal to be using a camera underwater while fishing in California I've been really looking into getting a camera to see what's going on at the end of my line recently and everything that I read says that it's illegal to use for fishing in California?
