Quick Flight - Quincy & Truckee - Part 2
Taking the 1948 Ercoupe into Truckee. Departing Truckee, heading back to Nevada County Airport. Lots of snow and cloud up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, makes for beautiful views.
Happy New Year and thank you to everyone who supported the channel this past year, it's been a fun one!

Thanks enjoyed being along for the ride…. Laurie. NZ.
Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful flight on your Ercoupe.
Good airmanship with the weather.
What a pleasant way to spend my last day in 2022, flying in an aircraft that’s My age!

happy New Year, 1948 Edward! :)
Absolutely beautiful flight James.
I was grounded for a month. This hit the spot though. Good job James.

Glad to help provide some relief from grounding! Are you working on the aircraft?
what a nice flight...
Looked a bit challenging at first but when the clouds became scattered it looked idyllic. James, thanks for taking us along. May you have an adventurous and safe 2023.
NICE (again!)😀 Happy New Year to you and your family!!! Greetz from the Netherlands!
Happy New Year. The clarity & quality of the new camera is outstanding. I guess I will have to trade in my flip phone.
Happy New Year from Pembrokeshire, UK. Great video as always.
Beautiful video work.
Happy New Year to the Goods! Nice IFR flight, I follow roads/rails.
Good call following 80 west. You never know when cloud and granite might merge.

Good advice for Navion's and Ercoupe's alike! :)
Happy New Year to you, Diane and James.
James! Always a joy to see your well done videos. Can I ask a favor? You need to start dressing like you might have to walk home. Best regards.

That's a good idea, I should take light weight, warm clothes on these trips. Thanks, and happy new year!
Watched this with my feet under my desk and the heater on. Nice flight. 🙂
James your aerial views from the Ercoupe and videos are the best. Outstanding work.
1534. Fyi an Air NZ B777 lost directional control landing on AKL very wet runway the other day. May have been the bad rainstorm day that caused alot of flooding, possible damage to some runway lights apparently.
I would have kept the canopy closed while parked. Looks really cold.
Gorgeous, James! Thank you so much for taking us along!! Happy & Prosperous New Year 🥂🍾🛩🎉🎊

Same to you! Glad you liked the vid!
Nice little flight - it sounded like rush hour at Nevada County 🙂
Happy New year James! Great year-end video. Fly safe!
Happy New Year, James. Another great video.
Great video James!! Are you using a Sentry for your GPS? Any problems with it? Happy New Year

Hey George, I do use it as the GPS for my iPad, no major problems. It occasionally disconnects, but restarting it seems to fix that fairly quickly. Never a confidence builder though, when that happens!
Just wondered if you use carb heat when cruising at those temps?
@JamesGood
Жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, lots of carb heat used on that day, the temp/dew point was quite close.
You must know Juan Browne .

I do, I have some videos with him on my channel.
I'm from Argentina and I have un Erco too. Your videos are amazing! How high do you usually flight? What engine your Erco has? Tks

Thanks! I fly at all different altitudes! From a few hundred feet off the ground, up to about 10-11 thousand feet above sea level. Depends on what I'm flying over. Probably normally 1-2 thousand feet above the ground. I have an O-200a, 100HP.

Wow 11 thousand feet! I have flown 6 thousand feet. What engine your Erco has?

@@leanaccount3873 I have an O-200a, with a 6950 prop, twisted to 46 pitch for climb.
I-fone-14 looks no better than whatever you were using previously... However, a beautiful and impressive flight ! How far is it to Truckee from Nevada County ? Ron, L00
@JamesGood

Thanks. It's not far, about 30 minutes by Ercoupe, about 50 miles.

@@JamesGood The perspective of the lens is good, but really no better, at least on my computer, than what you normally use. It's definitely not any sharper, and may be worse. Good flying, be careful ! We managed to get the group out to APV in between the storms Friday, while every other day has been too windy to really enjoy such a flight ( about 60 miles). Not looking forward to the next 10 days... All the Best, Ron

The videos you've been seeing are mainly from the iPhone 12 Pro. I then upgraded to the 13 Pro, which seemed worse than the 12, mainly due to the software switching lenses, and no manual control. Frustrating. The 14 Pro seems a little better, but I don't like the 'camera improvements through software' that the tech companies are doing right now.
You were following I80. At what point along 80 did you leave it to fly to Nevada County?
@JamesGood
Жыл бұрын
Really just past Blue Canyon, you turn away from 80, and direct to KGOO.
Were you not on Flight Following? Or was it just edited out?

They can't hear you out there, Ken. Not worth the hassle. You'd have to be up way high to get them.

I do make sure I have my Garmin Inreach when I head out to Quincy...
What do you do for heat?
@JamesGood
Жыл бұрын
The exhaust shroud heat is pretty effective. Also, bubble canopy helps.
