Quick Fix For Lost Mirror Cover! (2007 Saab 9-5 Linear) - Trionic Seven

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a very common issue on the Saab 9-5. Weak plastic clips holding the rear view mirror cover result in it falling off. In this video I show you how to fix it quickly with a new cover. No, we don't care about the paint for this car.
The Saab 9-3 has a very similar procedure.
Swedish: Hur man sätter fast en backspegelkåpa som lossnat på Saab 9-5. Det är vanligt att kåpan lossnar i t.ex. biltvätten.

In hindsight this feels like a trivial video, but I hope that these instructions are useful for someone wondering about this procedure.

I have a 2018 honda civic whose mirror cap came off but im going to try the same method in the video. This is a very helpful video because i.freaked out walking into my garage and seeing my exposed mirror and the cap laying on the ground thinking i.would have to shell out some serious cash on repairs

Very helpful! Damaged my Subaru's rear mirror casing to a fallen tree. The dealership says the replacement part should snap right on, but they're very busy and can't do it without me setting up an appointment, waiting, etc. This seems like something I can do myself!

Thanks for posting. My 2008 SAAB 95 driver mirror got an 'substantial' strike (mirror, lock ring, motor w/memory, gasket). May I ask you about the Neptune spares website link? I feel able to make the reparation and to save some money as soon as I get the spare parts?

I'd love to see a video about how to address the corrosion on the trim by the window. Mine has gotten really bad and I'm always looking for a simple fix.

Unfortunately, corrosion and rust are never going to be simple fixes. Another viewer linked a photo guide to how it's done, but it's basically sanding it all down and repainting.

Hi, have a 2006 95, I hit my mirror and forced the cover off while backing into my garage. It did not crack the cover it just popped off but it broke the clips inside. Other than that it is re-useable and already painted. What type of glue did your friend use to glue his back on? I have not figured out the best glue option yet and have it held on with a zip tie for now. Also, I was wonder if I drilled holes in the indentations on the cover would they match the holes in the mirror structure. But maybe that will look a little tacky. What type glue did your friend use? and is it holding up? What are your thoughts? And your video is spot on for dummies like me.

No no no, do not glue it. It did not hold up, and one of the first things I had to do was to remove the cover entirely and replace it. It was falling off.

Thanks...if you know the maker of the aftermarket you used I I will try that brand. There are a few after market ones, but I want to ensure it works and it is a good fit. For now I have it on with a zip tie.

Hi, I bought a black cover also, it finally arrived...however I noticed it had two screws in it.also. ..are the optional screws enough to hold on the painted blue color you think...or not enough.

  • @topspoke
    @topspoke6 жыл бұрын

On my 2005 model (pre facelift) there were 2 screws holding the cover on as well as the clips. You can see the plastic posts that they screw into on the part in the video. You have to take the mirror out to gain access to the screws. I'm not sure if the Dame Edna facelift cars have the screws as they don't appear to be there in the video. Mine was smashed off by a BMW driver who had cut the bend = *"#@head. His mirror (with built in indicator repeater) was totally demolished (ha ha served him right! = expensive). My mirror cover had a crack in it when I picked it up off the road (I had to try not to laugh in front of the guy!). I decided to buy a new one rather than try to repair it. I got one from Neo Brothers here in the UK and painted it to match the car before fitting it. The hardest part of the job was getting that fiddly spring to pop off behind the mirror.

I watched that video also as I have the same problem on my 2003 Aero. It's just one of those annoying things that isn't that important but would be nice to fix the reversing function. I was going to take it apart and try to fix it but your video gave me the idea of just replacing the motor. I tried to find a used motor with memory function but the cheapest I could find was £54 from Neo Brothers. Instead I started to think outside the box as my searches on ebay suggested other cars may have the same component (some opels, VW and Jaguar have the same part). Eventually I found one for an older Jaguar which has the same mirror fitment and the same 8 pin plug which was only £23. I've ordered it and will have a go at fitting it to see if it works. If it doesn't I can just re-ebay it and get an original one. But it makes sense that different car makers will source the same part for something like this.

Hej!
