Cheers man, this video was made for people like me, saved it fir future reference. It's bad enough trying to decide on what printer to get in the long run sometimes, let alone resin types, slicing softwares, how to use such software, and of course all the settings for supports etc etc AND trouble shooting/ printfails. And this is why I'm subbed to channels like you. Oh and awesome painting tutorials. 😁

I'm new to 3D modelling I'll try these settings on auto supports today!. I'm using lychee I love it but have this chitibox and anycubic slicer but lychee works better for me but trying them all to see what's best
Thanks for this, it definitely helped me a lot. I would orientate my models so the supports would be on the mating surfaces. I did this because I was afraid the supports would take away detail from the surfaces that would be seen. The problem was that my models would never fit together well. This video makes me more confident about placing supports everywhere!

Try it! It works really well. Your pieces will fit a lot more snug and you won't have to use tons of filler on it. Le me know how it goes!

Make a video on your photon mono x settings
Thank you for the great video. I have one small question. Would you mind sharing what modifications, if any, that you made to the heavy supports?
@TheCreativeCollector
Жыл бұрын
I just use auto supports on all sizes.
I noticed on the base there were "red" areas around the front facing detail part of the pegs. Those areas aren't supported at all. And it still printed just fine? Awesome video!
@TheCreativeCollector
Жыл бұрын
Yeah so I usually dont have a problem when the support goes over slightly like that. I try not to make it a regular thing, but it happens now and then and it still prints fine.
Do you have any updated support settings?

fantastic video, really helped me understand some extra things about orienting a print, for the photon mono x what would your exposure settings be? still 3.5? im currently running 2.4

Thank you so much for your video. it has been so helpful. I have one question for you I have heard the some people are leaving their resin in the vat. Is this a good idea .Do you clean your vat out after every print?

No I leave it in there, especially if I know I'm going to print again soon.
Question: do those settings apply to the elegoo mars 4 ultra?

They should work as well.
I have been a B3Dserk patreon for 3 months and next month I will finally buy my resin 3d printer (0 experience). This helps a lotttttttttttttttt, thank you so much! I was planning to use the files from the pre supported chitubox directory hahaha. Just one doubt when I was "playing" with the pre supported files there were 2 directories "50" and "100", with different sizes, which are the scales for each one, plus are the non supported files?
@TheCreativeCollector
2 жыл бұрын
Great to hear! I'm glad this helps. So, Wicked or B3dserk usually has all of their models in 1/6 scale and busts at 1/4 scale. So, I think the 50/100 thing is if you want them full size versus half size. Reach out to those guys and they can tell you for sure.

Hi great video. Why when i use auto supports, it create supports also inside the hollowed model? I have to manually remove them piece by piece evrytime.

It's on the setting where you hollow out the model
I love the settings for the supports. It's soooo much easier to remove after print. I have one question, I keep getting tacks heads (area supports pulling from resin print) on some parts. What can I do to fix the problem...I'm printing on Elegoo Saturn and Saturn 2
@TheCreativeCollector

That's somewhat normal, but of they're too big then check the settings on the base of the support going on the model. You might be able to tweak that a bit.

Awesome video! I have a question though! When I slice a print it gives me a time total of 5 hours but when I load it into the photon mono x the time becomes double. Is that normal?
@TheCreativeCollector
2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's normal. It has to do with the machines internal settings like UV output and so on.
I am so very new to this. i have watched a ton of videos to the point of over load. My question would be are you concerned with islands after you use auto supports? I am mainly doing small parts 1/24 scale car models any suggestion you have for me would greatly be appreciated
@TheCreativeCollector

I usually don't have a problem with it but I look over everything first
Do you find yourself adding extra supports when you use auto or do you trust it mostly to do it’s job? I haven’t used chitubox, I use lychee and every time i just use auto supports I seem to get a failed print and it doesn’t seem to detect a lot of islands. Maybe I need to swap to chitubox and give it a go!
@TheCreativeCollector
Жыл бұрын
I usually don't have to add any extra supports. Most of the time I take away a few.
Awesome tips. It’s crazy how you never use light supports lol. Do you ever get failures using auto supports with only medium? I can’t imagine not using heavies to anchor and lights for details.
@TheCreativeCollector

I've just always used medium and got great results so I didn't want to change it.

This video is great, I'm having quite a few fails lately and I believe it's because I haven't figured out the best orientation and the support settings. My question here is, you print HUGE models, but for someone who prints in a sligh smaller scale, do you still use the same standard supports?
@TheCreativeCollector
Жыл бұрын
Yes I use the same supports for all models. The only thing I do differently is I add more density for larger heavier pieces.

@@TheCreativeCollectorgreat video
Hey bro, great video, however... I always get small little dents from the support tips. You pull them off effortlessly, but when I try to do that, I get dents in my resin print, which I have to putty. Very annoying. Any tips for that?
@TheCreativeCollector
Жыл бұрын
I get those sometimes, but I can usually sand them away with my Gtool. It happens a bit with heavy supports, so I use medium most of the time. I dialed down my exposure time a little and it helped with this a lot. Now they basically just fall off.
I’d like to see the support contact points close up. When I use mediums, even with a contact size of .40mm and a depth of .10 they show like crazy and require a lot of clean up. Any idea why? Thanks for the video.
@TheCreativeCollector
2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, and I'll take a look. Maybe from the angle? I don't have any issues with a lot of clean up with mine. I'll post a follow up on this message if I find out once I research it.

I use 0 penetration on all supports. Consider the time you are exposing perhaps it’s a little too long and it’s baking the supports? Resins are very different too of course. I mainly use Syria Tech (Fast/Tenacious 25% mix) and Phrozen 4K. I do use a little hot water for about 30 seconds and they come off super easy. I will sometimes use a heavy support on the initial build plate contact for large heavier pieces to ensure they don’t pull off. If there are dimples I apply a small amount of resin, ultraviolet flashlight and a quick sand. And as mentioned orientation can eliminate a lot of cleanup. Hope that helps!

Awesome! Thanks for the help Kelvin!
I am using Chitubox Pro 1.2.0 and I do not have this density setting.
@TheCreativeCollector

Yeah I heard they didnt include it on the newer versions for some reason.
The newest version of Chitubox doesn’t allow you to change the support density. What settings am I looking for in its place? Also, on a hollowed out model with 5% infill I’m still getting auto supports inside. Is there a remedy for this? I have Chitubox basic.

Here's a question: Lychee or Chitubox? Also, is the Linant a Chitubox-locked system? So if I'm used to Lychee, then I need to take that posed and ready STL and slice it in Chitubox to print on the Linant? Thanks!
