😎 We also briefly introduce overset meshes, quickly explore the input files, and run a simple static case using overset meshes in OpenFOAM-V2312.
🤔Overset meshes (OM) are also known as overlapping grids, overset composite grids, composite overlapping meshes, chimera meshes, patches grids, composite grids, relaxed multi-block meshes.
The overset capabilities demonstrated in this video tutorial are only available in the OpenFOAM ESI version (www.openfoam.com).

    Could this be used to simulate a mooring analysis of a set of buoys under the flow of a river? lets say, 3 buoys moored between then with each one on each extremity tied to a point outside the fluid.

    Yes, but you need to install the mooring model.

    I'm currently modelling a flow around a cylinder near the seabed, i built such a mesh for a cylinder that the lower part is sticking out of the bottom boundary, so when parameters discussed somewhere in 25:00 were set to more than 4/1, it created a huge area of hole cells and the visual representation looked very ugly. Sometimes this feature could be not useful.

    Well, I will need to take a look at the case to know what is the issue. But if it is only a visual representation it shouldn't be a problem. Keep in mind that you also need enough cells to carve a good chimera hole.

    Bro, I notice that in OpenFoam V2312, the layering in SnappyHexMesh can be improved drastically by introducing meshShrinker. I have already tried that tutorial but it does not work. Could you please share that too if it is alright for you?

    Well, I have mixed feelings regarding that. Pretty much those are small patches that do not work. I do not know why the developers haven't addressed this issue which is related to ratio of surface area to first cell center. I have a method to overcome that issue but it is kind of our secret. but in few words, just increase the maximum aspect ratio (the one hardwired in OpenFOAM) from a 1000 to 10000 or something bigger, and that will improve the BL meshing.
