Overset meshes with OpenFOAM-V2312 | Overset assembly with three component meshes

Ғылым және технология

😏 This is another take of the cylinder case (vortex shedding), which we know and love, but with three component meshes.
👍 We also introduce some best practices within OpenFOAM and we compare the solution with the outcome of Ansys Fluent 2023.
🤔 Overset meshes (OM) are also known as overlapping grids, overset composite grids, composite overlapping meshes, chimera meshes, patches grids, composite grids, relaxed multi-block meshes.

Toposet step is a mystery to me and now you are telling us we can skip it. That's very cool..... 😎

Hi there! I have a foreground mesh (overset) generated from third party software, which has placed the overset patch at the end. So, simply copying the oversetPatch in the boundary file from the end and pasting it in the beginning wont work due to face number inconsistency. So, is there any way to solve this issue? (And my background mesh is generated using blockMesh and SHM, in which the oversetPatch is successfully placed in the beginning.)

Yes, that is covered in the videos. You need to use dummy patches. I dont recall the precise timestamp but we show two methods.
