This is a Motormouth couple car video answering your questions from Instagram, like: Is the Toyota Crown Signia worth the wait? Does tire size effect BMW X5? Do you comment on rattles? Why are so many used Mazda CX-90 for sale? Replacing VW Golf R with electric car? Will 2025 Acura MDX have steering controls? How much power and torque do you need? Land Rover Defender engine choice? Should I buy a non-hybrid SUV? When will you get to drive the Honda Civic Hybrid?

Thank you for being sensible about HP and TQ numbers. I've been saying for years that people are getting caught up in marketing nonsense, especially in the newer EV segment. We don't need 500 HP EVs that cost $120k. We need 250 HP EVs that can go 600 kms on a charge that cost $50k.

Eletric motors cant sustain max output without overheating the battery. Thus the transient hp is low hanging fruit compared to costly Li-ion batteries

@@Mark-rt6fy mainly why I've said EVs are little more than play toys for the rich until battery technology improves to eliminate the many downfalls they currently suffer from. Current technology works fine for hybrids, but not ideal for full on EVs. Yet. I still think we're likely a decade away from actual real alternatives to ICE vehicles.

@@robertt9342 sure, but where's the $25,000 Corolla EV equivalent? There isn't one. Until you can replace a Corolla with an equally reliable EV with similar cost of ownership, they'll never be a true replacement for an ICE car. That's why hybrids are where it's at for now. They are marginally more expensive than their gas only counterparts but still give you the benefits of reduced fuel consumption without the negatives of EVs (cost, range anxiety, charging infrastructure, etc).

The Rattle section reminds me of Top Gear, when the trio raced to Verbier in Switzerland, and Clarkson had a Ferrari with a bad wiper arm assembly, and it just made a buzzing noise that permeated the entire cabin and could be heard over the phone, lol. I can relate with my old, 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander, where it wasn't a rattle, but it was the lack of sound deadening in the cabin, so all exterior noise just came in, it was awful. I'm so thankful to be driving my newer (though still old), 2012 Nissan Armada, its like a bank vault when I close the door. Only thing I hear is the small roar of the 5.6l under the hood.

"Rattles" fall under the category of Noise, Vibration & Harshness which Manufacturers address VERY seriously in the design & build process. As other Commentors have observed, sometimes a rattle is the result of the vehicle owner placing loose objects in glove compartments, overhead bins, door pockets, etc.. Consumer Reports includes a "Noise" rating on every vehicle it tests. This information is contained in the "Comfort & Convenience" section. For reference, the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid scores a Noise rating of 4/5... and the 2024 Land Rover Defender also scores 4/5, however the Overall Score is 85/100 for the Toyota and 47/100 for the Land Rover.

I have a ‘23 Defender 90 and love it. To the viewers question on engine…my question I have for Zack and Andrea is how in the world can Land Rover direct a 20k service interval for oil changes? This is outrageous and I hypothesize is a cause of some of the reliability issues noted. I have changed my Defenders oil at 5-7k and will continue to do so. I have to think that will help with engine reliability

13:29 Gonna be that guy lol... More torque is more horsepower because horsepower is torque multiplied by RPM. People like torque-y engines because they are producing more horsepower, because torque is force applied in a twisting motion, work is force applied over a distance and power is the amount of work in a given time. It's just that people like low and across the RPM range power ("drivable") vs high RPM power ("peaky"). In the old days before the turbo hybrid engines, V-10 Formula One cars only had about 250 ft/lbs of torque, but they were producing over 900bhp because they rev'd to 20,000 rpm.

A Head of Lettuce Outlasted UK Prime Minister Liz Truss After only a mere 44 days days in office, Liz Truss has resigned as Prime Minister. This makes her the shortest serving PM in the United Kingdom's history. The UK tabloid was Inspired by a quip from The Economist, which noted that the period between the 10 days of mourning after Queen Elizabeth II died and the beginning of her political downfall lasted about seven days or "roughly the shelf-life of a lettuce." Less than a week after they decided to put that idea to the test, the lettuce has emerged victorious. Adorned with its own blonde wig, eyes, Mr. Potato Head arms and a haunting grin, the lettuce became an internet celebrity that almost instantly garnered a significant following and its own Cameo account. Celebrating its win over Truss with flashing disco lights and a remix of Kool & the Gang's "Celebration," the lettuce seemed to perfectly encapsulate the absurdity that British politics had devolved into. Many have latched onto the meme as a poignant allegory for Truss' brief tenure.

It’s more for looks and the exhaust sounds 😀 However since driving it for a bit I am reconsidering a hybrid, because the Macan is so much for insurance, maintenance, and depreciation for being stuck in traffic 🥴 lol Rissy

Heck I once hand held my phone with youtube video to help a mechanic do oil change on my 911, cost 1/5 of dealer quote. Only bring big items to dealer like pdcc, transmission flush, awd diff flush, etc.

But they are great in the Okanagan in the summer. For winter I go down to 20" rims with 275/45R20 square setup and they have a noticeably softer ride which is A-OK for winter. Creeks, rattles and noises usually don't start till years down the road. But if you sit in the backseat during a test drive and you experience a new car flexing or twisting around a corner. The frame needs to be bolstered and you'll over time see door panel opennings expanding. Check out the Walmart parking lot for vehicles that look like the fenders are coming off, they could have used a couple of "I" beams welded along the length of the vehicle.

Why so many used CX-9s? Every reviewer I have seen raved a lot about the CX-9, At the same time most seemed to think the tranny was twitchy, it was a big on the outside & dinky on the inside, & had other issues suggesting it wasn't quite be ready for prime time. My guess is that a fair number buyers fell for the spec sheet & zoom zoom and then got buyer's remorse after living with it awhile. Hopefully Mazda will work out the kinks.

CR doesn't get paid by manufactures but their results are based on their subscribers survey. Pretty much the same people rate cars over and over and there could be bias or old perception from the same group of people who subscribed to this magazine. For example back when Toyota Camry had the "sudden acceleration" lawsuit, CR was asked why they didn't find any potential problem with Toyota? CR admitted that they did not test the Toyota Camry and just went with past reputation that all Toyota cars are reliable. It's equivalent to always vote the same pro bowl or all star player every year based on their past reputation and not how they performed in a particular year. By saying one manufacture is always reliable, it doesn't mean the others are not. Always shop for the best overall "value". It's not like only Asian brands have excellent engineers and the others are from inferior schools. They all know each other, and in many cases have the same training.

I think gas vehicles value will remain because people are not going to want an EV's and will be looking for getting a gas car and keeping it as long as they can. I will be updating my gas vehicle in 2034 and then running until its end of its life. Run it 10 years and by 2045 I will likely not be driving.

Correct. Torque is force, HP is work. A pipe on a torque wrench can apply 1,000 lb ft of torque without moving, therefore no work has been done. 1,000 lb ft (wow, big number!) at 10 RPM is less than 2 HP. How come the “torque is everything” guy is complaining, he’s got 1,000 lb ft? To move a car, or anything, it takes HP.

Don't think you are necessarily alt right just because you state actual facts about the disaster the electrification and all Net0 policies. The intentions were/are good but the implementation and mostly the knife to the throat approach is questionable. EVs are very polarizing depending who you are talking to but one thing is for sure, they are not a one size fits all solution to the current issues and certainly not in their current iteration (technology wise). And OMG trading a Golf R for an electric or hybrid ...that's almost blasphemy. for any car enthusiast 🤣
