"Is that the one you dropped on your foot?" That made me laugh.

Located in BC and recently shopped: RAV4 hybrid, Venza, Lexus NXH & CRV Hybrid: RAV4 Hybrid was 1-1.5yr wait so pass! Venza was expensive, on last model yr and rare inventory so pass! Lexus? Expensive with 1yr wait on factory ordered OR in stock but $7K in BS hidden fees & unnecessary options so pass! Ended up with CRV hybrid! Sure, a bit more than RAV4 hybrid but in stock and only paid MSRP plus $1K off from Honda offer with no add’l BS/hidden doc fees asked by dealer and got a free cargo liner! Waiting a year impacts final price due to int rates, yearly price inc, options & pkg changes, BS hidden fees by dealer and trade- in value going further down. I simply refuse to do business with brands and dealers that take advantage during these tougher times!

Not sure about the dealers in BC, but I called a local Lexus dealer that I have never met, and in October '23, they had just received an allocation for a 2024 RX450h+. So, I called in the deposit over the phone and got the 2024 Lexus RX450h+ without ever meeting the dealer until I picked up the vehicle. Lexus never asked for a penny above MSRP for both of my Lexus vehicles even during the crazy covid period. My local Lexus dealers are playing the long game and working to build customer loyalty and repeat business. Paid cash for the RX450h+ and the whole ordeal took about an hour.

First of all thank you for the great videos, I really appreciate them! Made me go with my car after extensive research which included your channel too. So, 2023 Toyota RAV4 hybrid owner from Hungary here. Love the car and would buy it again, but we waited 18 months for our car and when we ordered it it had a price guarantee. Roughly 12 months later the dealer sent us an email saying that due to logistical difficulties and high demand they will charge us for a "one time logistics fee". If we don't pay it we won't get the car. The fee was around 7% of the purchase cost. So it was a hidden price increase they wanted to kind of blackmail us with. I got in touch with a lawyer and with the Toyota head office in the EU. We couldn't get around it but we managed to get it lowered to 2.5% from 7% and cut a deal with the dealership so that the first service after 15k km is free. In short, don't let yourself get pushed around and read your contract carefully. I should add that I asked for an offer from 10 dealers in Hungary and the differences in contracts and prices were shocking.

i grew up in the 90s and 2000s, my family was fine with a tiny sedan. it fitted all 4 people just fine. i can understand a mini van if u have to haul stuff or live remote and need to buy 1 month worth of grocery at a time. i don't get the obssession with suvs

Depends on priorities and needs I guess. We've been driving our two kids around for 8 years in a subcompact hatchback. We have a cargo box for camping trips. Now that the kids are older, we're going to get something bigger when tiny dies. If only non luxury brands still sold wagons here...

CRV hybrid drives so much nicer than the RAV4 hybrid plus it has roomier rear seats and the doors open 90 degrees to easily get the child seats in.

I just bought my CRV hybrid. I was going for the RAV4 but the CVR has sooooo much more room than the RAV4. And love the 90 degree doors!!

Re: Corolla Cross/RAV vs Crosstrek/Forrester - one think to keep in mind is size. I’m 6’5” and we had to get rid of my wife’s Mazda3 because I couldn’t sit in front of a rear facing car seats. They can take room very easily. RAV4 and CRV have been no problem.

Exactly - rear legroom should be near the top of the shopping list considerations when expecting children in the near future! Anything less than, I’d say, 39 inches of rear legroom means that the seat in front of a rear facing child seat will be unusable.

Always enjoy your videos! I saw your video on the CX 70, and I’m sold. I went and test drove a CX 90 with the 340hp inline 6. I liked the way it handled, and I enjoyed its performance. Originally I was going to purchase the new Land Cruiser. But after thinking about it, it’s going to take at least a year to find one with the options I want. And to be honest, I think the LC’s ruggedness is going to be wasted on me. I spend almost all of my time on paved roads.

Some vehicles like the Flex were just ahead of their time. The original Pacifica and the Aztek fall into that category as well and would have been a lot more successful in today's market.

Really like this series! When are we going to see a review/walk through of the GTI?

A huge drawback with the Lexus RX that was not mentioned is the high theft rate (at least in Ontario) and the resultant insurance premiums. Get an insurance quote before buying. Also, be prepared to spend a thousand or more to install aftermarket security systems like kill switches, which have their own issue of potentially voiding the warranty or messing up the electronics. My advice would be to consider a different brand - I think Zach and Andrea have good opinions of the Acura RDX and MDX

Thank you for answering my "tall humans" question! Mazda CX-90 is in consideration, sneaky good MPG for its size. I wouldn't have thought of the Pathfinder at all, added to the list. I'll also check out the Santa Fe and a base model Ascent. If we look used I'll be looking for a 2019 Ford Flex! Per the minivan, I was told a LONG wait time for a Toyota Sienna (would buy that over the Highlanders). Good deals on 2021-2022 Pacifica PHEVs coming off rental in the USA, but the stories in the owner's groups have scared me off! Remember the good old days (6-7 years ago) when car shopping with a $50k budget was quite sufficient?

The Pacifica plug-in hybrid does not have a good reliability score at all. The Sienna minivan as you mentioned is very difficult to get, we have viewers who say they are waiting 2 years. It's popular but Toyota is not making enough of them. Definitely look at the CX-90 and Cx-70. For a 5-passenger SUV, the CX-70 is large.

I'm so puzzled by the CX-70, the prices are up on Mazda's website and the starting price is $4000 higher than the CX-90 because it doesn't offer the same base trim. If they're essentially the same vehicle, we'd be more inclined to get the 90 even if we rarely if ever use the 3rd row.

February, 2024 - I’m in Canada and looking for RAV4 Hybrid as well, but I believe that it’s now available in stock in the US and in Canada they have the Gas version in stock with a small market adjustment (C$ 2k - C$ 3k). Yes, from my experience with 2 dealers I think they give the car to whoever ordering more accessories and packages not first come first buy.

4:48 2024 Santa Fe hybrid can seat 6 or 7 comfortably as well. I only mention it because they include Kia in list. I believe it’s a month or two out still. New ice models are being delivered now. Hybrid is next.

I had a co-worker one time who said that when my family was together we looked like a group of runaways from the Minnesota Home for the Large and Tall. lol.

My 2022 Ioniq 5 Long Range AWD Prefered with Ultimate package (ordered in 2021) (my goodness Hyundai why not just Limited like the USA model) turned into a 2023 with only CAD$900.00 more, as it was a year newer I was happy other than it was broke when I received it.

Just got the rav4 hybrid in north Maine at York in Houlton

Hmmm hybrid will have better? Idk 🤷‍♀️ I thought the more miles on the battery the less. But that’s good to hear

You could always test it at the gas pump, track your mileage, and how many liters it took at the pump

To the 40-50k suv question for 4 adults, the crown signia coming out in 2025. Also subaru outbacks are extremely comfortable for adults and they are really a good value at 40k

Look on market place for a vehicle you need. There is almost always a dealer that was allotted one not spoken for (if they are honest)

Don't forget that the RAV4 Hybrid is in high demand for Car Thieves in Canada!

Yes, I heard the Sienna has an extremely long wait time!!

GH Hybrid is not available and you have to pay way over MSRP to get it in US.

a more upright SUV is easier on the back for getting kids into and out of car seats. While I love the extra power for city stop and go driving of a hybrid, they are much more expensive than a Forester. I just bought a 2024 Forester touring. Available with only a few weeks wait and much cheaper than a RAV4 Hybrid. I chose not to wait for a Forester Hybrid. I learned the hard way about first year models. By second and third year they work out a lot of the bugs.

Maybe you guys could do a quick tour of your gti and an owners review or intitial impressions. Sometimes owning a vehicle will change your opinion over spending a week with it.

I love how people say they dont want to spend a lot of money of fuel and then proceed to look at 50-70k suvs... the difference between a 25mpg 3 row and 30mpg 3 row at $5/gal over 200k miles is 6.7k... so buy a 45k suv that is most likely cheaper to maintain and you will still save money. Saving on gas should not be your priority in cost of ownership unless you do tons of mileage a year. Then personally if you have a family, you will save a butt ton more money overall by just buying 2 good size 2 row suvs for 10-20k less than the 3 row. And if everyone needs to go somewhere, just drive both cars. They will get better mileage day to day and will be cheaper to maintain over the warranty period

Stuns me into a giggle-fit that somebody still makes a car with a CD player.

So now the truth is out! You guys were were on the "naughty" list in relation to the new GTI!! Lol!

No we just picked it up so we will spend a little time with it first.

Writer had a Ford Flex, why not a Ford Explorer, lots of space, decent on gas, I can get 9l/100kms no problem. Refresh coming has a vastly improved interior, but if all the tech isn't important my 2022 ST Line is pretty nice. No issues so far.

Or you order a Hellcat as a serviceman, and the dealer screws you out of it, because they can get more additional dealer markup from someone else.

I have a question about the CC Hybrid. Why are wait times continuing to be so long in Canada? I see lots of RAV4 hybrids, but CC Hybrids are like unicorns. Also, there are a lot of Lexus UXs on the market right now. Many are off-lease low KM returns that are very similar price to the top line CC Hybrid. Is there much of a difference between them? Is it worth the wait for the CC Hybrid?

Ford Flex equivalent these days would be a Kia Carnival, and they look a bit alike too.

Don't get a mini-van, Andrea? I have a 2022 Carnival SX (US) and it is loaded with room. We don't have kids at home anymore, but it is great for older people going on roadtrips or just out to dinner. The back, with the 3rd row down is cavernous. I have to use a grabber (I am 6'1" tall) to reach all the way in to get things. The legroom is excellent for the driver, too!

This is why I rather put up with the 'compromises' (in some areas) and buy direct from Tesla. I hate these mind games with dealers.

When do we get to go for a ride in the new GTI with you?!?

We really like the updates, we'll be driving it sometime in the spring.

I gave the same advice to someone. waiting on their 45-thousand-dollar Rav 4 Toyota, .. waiting months. " Some people are "Stupid Cheap"... why pay money to change my oil.. (culturally like the Bristish, Indians and Germans.) others more personal Heraty Green for example... a Good 25-dollar bottle of wine, hey I enjoy this too".. over six months is what 150 bucks give or take. for 60 thousand dollars plus car after Financing ....

What is a predictive reliability score based on?

In regards to Mercedes-Benz, Consumer Reports states the predicted reliability score is based on similar models from Mercedes-Benz plus the Mercedes brand scores. CR has the Mercedes-Benz brand vs. other new car brands reliability in 29th spot out of 30. In the same category, the Acura RDX has a predicted reliability score of 80/100 and the BMW X3 73/100. I am surprised it's so low but JD Power has MB at the very bottom in their 3 year dependability study.

Love all of your videos guys! But I really want to suggest you get with the times and talk about combined leg room in SUV's. You routinely get the numbers wrong based on the fact that front/rear numbers are variable.
