Questioning my life decisions - Not sure we will make it home on our Tesla road trip

Part Duex of of our 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance Road Trip. Chattanooga, TN back to Dayton, OH.
Mountains and hills really sap ones range and not sure if we will make it home without having to stop more than once.
Also saw a blue Rivian out in the wild. Pretty cool sighting.

Elevation kills but going down the other side (if your route takes you back down) brings it back to life.

I know right! You still come out behind even with net 0 elevation. Nothing is 100%

When a charging station is busy, how do you decide who is next? First come first serve or are you fighting for the next open spot? If it’s first come first serve, how do you determine who is next?

If people are spaced every other charger (only applies to 150kw stations) then just pull in and say sorry. Then it is first come first serve. If all chargers are full then people normally get in line. 99% of the time people honor the "line". There is always someone who tries/does jump the line. Your call on how to handle. I just inform them there is a line and they just jumped. If they get mouthy then move on.

No no, the supercharging prices are PER MINUTE. Naturally, the higher charge rates are higher prices per minute. The price per kWh is about the same....

While your pricing data at the first of the video is interesting, it would be more informative to do the math and determine how much each stop and power level would cost at a price per KWH

Great question! - .433/kwh at 150kw charger. 250kw time based charger was .414/kwh actually cheaper based on the amount I paid/used.

What's the problem. When you get low just pull into the nearest gas station. There everywhere by the way. Oh, you can't do that. Sorry.

@@paulshoover You do know Hurricane Fiona at a Cat 4 is now pounding Puerto Rico and the other islands. Folks normally start with at least 3/4 tank of gas. Oh wait there is no electricity now and won't be on for days or a week or more. So when the roads are clear and you need to get food hop in the EV and off you go. Ooops, no electricity, no charge. DARN!

@@louisstennes3 we’ll say no more, I’m sold! With all the cat 4 storms always hitting around here I don’t see any reason to give up that sweet, sweet foreign oil addiction.

@@wesley.135 I talk reality. How you interpret that is your business. Oh by the way the USA is 100 percent energy independent when it comes to oil, nat gas and coal.
