Joas point on life skills is spot on. I have one child that has an associate degree who is a successful business man, another with no college that can do anything from build houses to wiring it from start to finish, weld anything, entire household repairs, plumbing and fixing any make model car and another child who has a doctorate and is in debt and makes less than the child with no college. It is different for each child

I agree! I have 4 kids from 16-30. Only my youngest is pursing college. Shr graduated high school at 15 and is finishing her first year of college. She will be going away to college soon but it's a Christian college that is free if you work for the college. Its nickname is Hard Work U.

I am so grateful for your wholesome, hard-working, inspiring content and family and think watching your, and similar, channel(s) is IMMEASURABLY better than watching t.v. I used to live in St. Ignatius, MT many years ago in the middle of the Amish Community down there. I was a driver there, particularly driving Pollyanna , the midwife....which took us to Libby, Rexford and other places. I love the Libby community. I have stayed with Leona, Joas's parents, and the little cabin that you two lived in the first 2 years you were married. I remember Joas as a young man, talking about Priscilla who lived in Bonners Ferry. HAHA...I learned so much from the Amish, their hearts and hard work ethic. I am so blessed to see the way The Holy Spirit continues to pour out His love and bring freedom to y'all . P.S. I live in Eastern Wa. and am friends with The Black Family from the Marble Community.

You are so dear of a couple. I just love it when you post! I also watch Mary and Lynette and bought a Amish cookbook via one that Lynette showed on her channel. I believe her mother gave it to her before she got married or something like that. I purchased six of them for all my daughters and granddaughters. The recipes are so yummy and it is a fun cookbook with little quotes of scripture here and there and other little sayings or thoughts. Priscilla, you and Joas are just such a joy to listen to and watch the love and respect you show each other in all your actions and sharings of things. I just so enjoy your topics and listening to your comments to the viewers. We just celebrate our 54th Anniversary and now into our 55th year of marriage......plus we went together in high school back in the midwest. All combined we have known each other over 58 years in all. You are wise with your comments and suggestions. You are wise beyond your years! God bless you and thank you for sharing all you do.......you are truly an inspiration and I believe this is a calling from our Lord for you in spreading the truth of love and goodness in marriage and family life.

Priscilla...I LOVE everything about Mary over at White Cottage Company. I never miss her vlogs and her talent is so impressive and inspiring. I am not into all white or farmhouse but I get so many great ideas from her projects and am able to easily adapt her ideas into my home decor. Joas...I wish your Amish store was also an online store because both our Amish stores have closed up and I miss so many of the dry goods and spices. I so enjoy your vlogs and I really could care less if you are Amish, non-traditional or otherwise but that you are a very God grounded wholesome family that I can enjoy without ever being embarrassed. I’m with you on the whole COVID thing... I trust God will take care of me no matter what and if I didn’t have my faith in God...I just could not function on any level. Thanks for sharing with us about your life and I am always excited when the children are a part of your vlogs. I only ask to be enlightened and entertained...you NEVER disappoint!!!:):):)

I absolutely second your opinion on education. This world would have been a better place with such thinking. Unfortunately, it is all about self promotion. As for doctors and nurses and such - yeah in this fallen world that doesn't want God, there will be a need for such professions. But this is because people are living only in the small picture and not realizing the eternal ramifications of what they are rejecting.

Yes, very important to have life skills! You can learn so much by experience. That’s one of the reasons we homeschool. Because learning is far more than just book learning, it’s the experience of play (with younger kids) and being able to go outside and experiencing nature and then also learning good work ethic.

I just found this video after watching others of yours. You mentioned at the end that you hoped that this video was not boring: I say that it definitely is not! I could listen to much more of your videos such as this. Hearing about your Reformation roots, your reverence and respect for your ancestors, and your community and family, is like a balm for the soul. I do have one question: how do you source the water for your indoor plumbing? Do you pump from a spring, or from a well, or do you collect rainwater in a cistern? May Our Lord continue to add blessings to you.

Joas you are so wise when you answered the question on the tribulation….it is such a controversial subject. One of the verses The Lord sent me to look at was 1Cor 15:51-52 to look at the last trump… that we would leave at the last trump….and since there are 7 trumpets in Rev. Then also the mystery of Christ and time are finished in Rev10: 6-7 and also we are not appointed to wrath 1 Thess 5:9….the wrath of God is the 7 vials. I believe if we rightly divide the Word and seek the Lord because there is no private interpretation of the Scripture…..it is by the Holy Spirit. Just gave you some stuff to study. 👍🏼 Also tribulation vs wrath. Love you guys…👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Question for both of you. would you as a couple ever teach at another church about your relationship that is obviously center on Christ? I see a special love and respect for each other that is missing so often even in Christian homes

I enjoyed your answers and you are right when it comes to your children, I have two sons and one who has a college degree and is a computer engineer and has no life skills and the other is my down to earth woodsman who is a welder, does a lot of home remodels and is very good at what he does. He teaches his children as you teach yours, and the other son, well money went to his head and since he came from a poor family, he forgot who we are. Sad but true. When they say money is the root of all evil, this can be true. Humble is what I taught each of my children, but it didn't work for the engineer, Which saddens me.

I also watch the same two video channels as you do. I started watching White Cottage Company first, then found Lynette Yoder. I am not Amish but have always felt connected to the Amish in my Spirit. By the way, maybe you should write an Amish Cookbook. By the way, I watched both videos about Pricilla’s Parents’ Life Stories. My husband and I loved them. Her dad’s brought tears for me. His and her experiences with the Lord and the Holy Spirit. I immediately ordered her Dad’s book on Amazon

Hey just found your videos and noticed you said you watch Lynette Yoder. Well when I was watching your videos I noticed that you and Lynette have the same style in decorating and cooking etc. It's like you two are distance cousins because you two are so much alike. Have you noticed how much you two are similar? Love your family you guys are beautiful. From London Ontario Canada. ❤

We believe on the Lord our Christ Jesus and holy spirit. You have helped me with raising the grandchildren ones 6 a girl named Sydney and 3 year old named Ruel. It's a name of a follower of Jesus in the Bible. You give me so much information on this and how to handle them when the are disrespectful. So I nipped that one and I've learned different ways of reprimanding them so thank you for putting everything you are doing on KZread I love watching how your family is growing and teaching me new way God bless you and your family

Thank you, but what I really wanted to know was, how did your mothers keep the home as opposed to today's young mothers raising their families, or in general how any woman keeps a home. Your mothers had lots of kiddos and fewer (so called) " time saving" devices. One woman, the oldest of 11 and born in 1911, said she kept house while her mother kept the garden. She also said, " you can't do both and do either well," so I understand a messy house during gardening time and I'm glad you mentioned that. Goid for everyone to know so they won't expect too much of themselves or the mother of the home. ❤

I’m sorry that we didn’t answer your question correctly Sharon. I believe one reason they could keep up the Home better was they did not nearly go away as much as we would nowadays.
