Bless you, both, and your family. I so appreciate you sharing your life because I believe it will help the "English" people better understand the Amish cultures. My great-grandmother lived with Amish values and she helped care for me the first several years of my life. I remember the horse and buggy rides to church each Sunday, wrapped in a wool blanket in the snowstorms. Going to town on the buggy to get food from the store. I wore shoes when we left home. I had to use an outhouse, and pump water from the well to carry into the home. We used kerosene lamps. Had a wood stove in the middle of the large room where everyone slept. I have good memories and miss my great-grandma so much. Merry Christmas to all of you.

Great comment about college and producing! It’s hard for some of us, who haven’t been raised Amish to think a child should quit school after 8th grade, but I can see your point! I don’t think young people should go to college as a matter of course. All of my 7 children have gone to college and it hasn’t always been a positive thing in their lives, especially spiritually.

New sub here! I just found your channel yesterday and I'm loving it!! I've always been fascinated by the Amish. Especially their family closeness, sense of community, work ethic, connection with the land, etc. I know they're not perfect as I have heard you all say as well. We all need the Lord, and when he is at the center, everything else falls into place. Anyway, I love seeing how your faith and Amish heritage shines through your own unique family story....it encourages me also in the things that matter the most. Thank you all for putting yourselves out there and making this channel. It is a ministry as people see God's love in your daily life. Blessings

I enjoy learning how others live - not only does it teach us empathy, tips and new skills but is a reminder of how varied and great America is. Although I do not believe in pedigree dogs or breeding animals for sale ( so many cats and dogs are in shelters needing homes ) I respect the cleanliness of the area where you house your dogs. Also the respectful way both of you speak of your families, your children, and all others. Your gratitude to The Lord shines. Wishing you the best from a windy day in the great State of Maine

Your video today was very good I enjoyed it a lot period and you're right if a child is brought up in the way that he should but the time that they are 8 years old they've got a good foundation and can make good decisions I have a college education but I'm about to get over it where God can really use me. I graduated from from a southern baptist seminary in Kansas City Missouri and lived in Montana in Superior Montana for a while . When I was a little girl my dad used to tell us to have a relationship with God and not a religion so that we wouldn't become so heavenly minded that we wouldn't be any earthly good, and I think he meant to see where God is working and be right in the middle of it. I enjoyed today with you guys God bless you.

Oh how like-minded we are!! My mom and dad were raised horse and buggy Amish, but I was raised in IN as Mennonite. Found out later in life, my Amish uncles served in the 1-W service in hospitals rather than military in the '60s. My hubby was drafted and shipped out 3 days after we were married. Thank God, he went to Germany and not to Viet Nam. He served his 2 years as patriotic as his "worldy" uncles from Toledo. I married an Englischer but am almost Amish at heart. Always love and visit family when I can as I live near Atlanta. I want to visit Montana and sounds like your "cold, windless" winters are bearable. I still have not connected our heritage, yet, but surely are if we come from the Amish. My ancestors came from Switzerland, Jacob Hochstetler and the Yoder families. Love you so much and I enjoy your sharing and spreading the Good News. I can't remember if you ever joined the Amish Church as to be shunned when you converted to be more liberal. Young folks usually join church before marriage. I know your community is a bit different. My Amish sister is now New Order. I told her our commitment should be to Jesus and not the man made rules and regulations. Oh, I need to stop. I could write a book, too. Oh, reminds me, I need to look at the book links you mentioned. Have a Merry Christmas! We will not be gathering as a family as I am susceptible and missing funerals as well. Good bless all of you and yours. Karen Yoder

Hello Montana Haven! I have been following you since the summer of 2020, but since I watch on t.v., I am unable to comment. I'm using my mobile phone so I may comment and ask a question?? Love your channel, and being a woman of 58 yo, I wanted to firstly say that I'm mostly thankful for your channel for the Godly example to the world that I know you are. Parents need beautiful channels like this. My question is..I have heard that real estate can be high priced in your state; so how can folks with very modest income heading into retirement, actually afford a bit of land?? You guys are a blessing and thank you for sharing God's hope and promises ❤❤❄

It’s probably priced similarly to other places. Beautiful property with water or in town are going to be more expensive than further out in the country, but prices on land did go up significantly. Bare land is still priced reasonably usually

I heard this which seems to sum up what you are doing as an extended family: In essentials UNITY. In non-essentials, CHARITY. In ALL THINGS, to glorify CHRIST.

THANK YOU SHARING YOUR LIFE FULL OF LOVE. ONE IMPORTANT ASPECT OF YOUR LIFE I DON"T SEE YOU SHARING I WONDER WHY. ALL THE TIME YOU EAST, YOU NEVER THANK THE LORD FOR YOUR MEALS. ALSO YOU NEVER SHARE YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE. ALSO THE GERMAN BIBLE YOU SHOWED IS SO WELL PRESERVED. IT SEEMS THAT YOUR BIBLE IS AN ORNAMENT AND NOT THE MIGHT WORD OF GOD.

I have two questions. I am new to your videos. 1. Do either of you work outside the home, and if so, what do you do, for a profession? 2. Do you live close to your parents/family, and of so, do you have relationships with them?

Priscilla is a homemaker to our five children and Joas :-) We own a family business where we build log homes. Yes, we live close to our parents, both sets, and we have great relationships with them!

I have a lot of Minonite around me and they are getting more and more liberal. But most of the women don't cut their hair, wear no jewelry or pants.

I wonder how different the education is. You go to school till 8th grade and you guys do better then college degree people do. The way you do things I believe is so amazing. God is so good to you both. You both seem so real in your relationship with God and one another.

I truly believe it has to do with their children using their knowledge from a young age. For instance a carpenter aprentice learns math and algebra in school, but learns how to use it when to build a house or a barn. They see their parents do it and aply what they have learned (sometimes without realizing) to make sense of how their parents do things. Same goes for mesurements in baking and sewing.

Question for Priscilla: When you are "working" around the house say for instance, the older kids are in school and you are performing your chores do you have music or tv or something like that playing in the background? I do not care for quiet and have the tv talking in the background. If I am working outside nature is my background "noise".
