Hey! Rory looks young to me. I hope he realizes he can never do enough to satiate the Internet audience. I suggest you do a few simple shots during recoveries and then give a "post-mortem" when you have time. Talking over still photos is very useful and entertaining. Don't resort to faking a plane crash recovery to boost ratings.

Its nice to see other smart people are out there..LOL Oh hey and the car cams have the back cam that comes with them. That made a great out side cam like in your case mont one down just outside of your door like you hold your phone, another on your boom. The inside ones, one out the wind sheild and the other showing back words... Hell out three or four on in time. Get angles for every where.. Maybe there are people out there that will donate some.. If i was not on a fixed income ( Disabled) i woukd in a heart beat just to help out.. Take Care Rory you have a friend in me.. And every out there Take Care

Dude, I'll say it again. You do you. THAT is what people are drawn to and want to see. No gimmicks, no scripts, you. The real deal, honest you and your life and what you do. It's easy to say, I'm sure it's way harder to do . And capture the story. I get that you're morphing into something bigger and more complex. I wish you great success with what you choose to go after. But don't get caught up with the expectations of others, the pressure to please everybody. You will find the way that's right for you. Do that and it will all work out.

Rory is not a KZreadr who does off road recoveries, he a off-road recovery expert who does KZread. When someone who does what he does and has more experience doing it maybe their opinion will hold more weight but as far as I know he is the”subject matter expert”. So instead of telling Rory what to do and how to do it, instead tell him he is doing a great job and enjoy!

Back in the summer me and my girlfriend finally got to make a bucket list trip in my gladiator to Moab. I own a rigging and machinery moving company here in South Carolina. Unfortunately while on that trip I broke off my rear sway bar bracket and had no way to repair it on a Saturday. So I just went to the old shop parking lot and took the bar off and hoped someone would come in to work. Thats when I meet Shawn on a fluke he was selling a JK that morning in the parking lot. He offered help called the owner, which now I know who that is! He had his family with him at the time and was kind enough to open the gate and put my rigg in the shop to do a little welding on his off time. These guys are the real deal! They made a bad day into the trip of a life time!! We will never expect apologies from you and your crew, however we will always support you and your crew for being the real deal! Thanks again and hope to meet you one day on another adventure.

Rory is the type of guy that wears VELCRO shoes to make his life easier. Now y'all are asking him to complicate his life even more by running fancy cameras and different angles!?! We just gotta be happy he's doing this much for us! Love the content Rory. There's so much for us all to learn from you and your experiences, so no fancy cameras or movie-like editing needed. I can't wait to go to Moab again so I can stop by.

People, stop comparing these guys. Rory, Matt and Fab Rats compliment each other and often work together beautifully. Each is different and each has their own specialities as each of these guys admit. From what I have seen each of them use the old army motto. "The impossible we do straight way, miracles take a little longer." Keep doing what you do so well. Regards from Aus.

Hello... I've been watching your channel for a couple months. I discovered your channel from Matt's. I once owned Jerome Motors in Jerome,AZ and towed for the 4 LE agencies. I also did off-road recovery for vehicles and aircraft. This was in the 80's and equipment was much inferior to what's available today. Customers didn't get into quite as much difficulty as you encounter today. I had a 1.5t Chev w/Holms 500 dual boom. A solid wrecker at the time. Anyway, I'm watching you, Matt, Robbie, and Paul regularly. I'm impressed with all four of you as fabricators and off-road driving and recovery experts. I love your tow truck. It reminds me of the Mad Max movie (-: It's working art; your shop in the field. It's very well thought out and appears to have been developed on the job. Also, you are the only standard-shift driver of the four and I really appreciate your skill with clutch & brake on rock and pitch. That requires a bit more expertise than an automatic. You manage challenging obstacles with minimal throttle and tire spin. You make very difficult maneuvering appear easy. I know it's not. Not to worry about sophisticated filming, for my part. I like your channel as it is. You, Matt, Robbie, & Paul seem like people I'd be happy to have for neighbors. People like you guys and your families will stabilize America when the current madness is history. People of good heart. People who still think. People who fix things. People that care about others. People of the future. Thanks for all you do...

You're right in saying that what you do is different than Matt. Matt does alot of recoveries in the dunes where you are out in the rocks most of the time. For those who don't recognize the difference, most likely have never been on those type of trails. Although Matt's rigs are very capable in the rocks, his bread and butter is in the dunes. Your recoveries in the rocks require different techniques and attention to the little details or things can go bad very quickly.

Man, that lilly is cute. She's learning a lot about life hanging with you. There's nothing wrong with old school machinery. In the right hands it gets the job done. Run your rigs the way you want. It looks like they work just fine to me. It would be nice to have a dedicated cam out the front window but I get that it can complicate things and the job is the reason you are there. What you are doing works for you and it's fun to go along on your adventures. Don't worry about what Matt is doing. You have your own style and it kind of grows on your viewers.

You are spot on with the extra cameras. Also, with every extra camera you have instead of 1 hour of footage you will have 4 or 5 hours of footage with 3 or 4 extra cameras, so that means editing time goes through the roof which is a pain in the ass. Keeping batteries charged, SD cards. Don’t even think about a drone. Yea right. A lot of times I just want to wheel and not mess with filming. I couldn’t imagine doing all that while documenting your work. You’re doing great

You are absolutely right! 1. Run the business 2. Stay safe. 3. Rescue people 4. Provide service to YOUR customers. Everyone wants you to do what they think they want. Unless they want to get off their keister and support the channel in a tangible way - their comments have nothing to do with your business. If they do support your channel, again, that does not imply in any way they have any skin in your game. Stop wanting to “up your game” just because someone in their basement, late at night, want to dictate what you do. Take their ideas, apply a heavy filter to them, and do what YOU DO.

Rory, one of my favorite things to watch, it cracks me up, is when you do something, then say “okay, before you experts at home fly to your keyboards to tell me why I shouldn’t have done that…..” and wiggle your fingers, then explain exactly why you did it and it makes absolute sense. I call it your “ clueless expert” silencer, you do it to perfection. Well done, Rory, I really admire your style. You’re a hell of a good driver too, by the way. You are doing fine as far as I'm concerned! I'm in nebraska...we don't have your type terraine around here. To me, what you and Matt and Paul are doing is fascinating to me. Most of my TV or video watching is you guys, not some phony Hollywood crap, so keep up the good work!

Keep on, Keeping on Rory... I find it hard to believe that some of the couch know-it-alls have the audacity to suggest to you, who knows the terrain and the machine, how to do your job... Thank you for the incredible service you offer... I have only visited your Utah )from Manitoba, Canada) twice and I hope I never need your service, but would love to bring you a coffee and a box of donuts one day... Hi Lilly... such a beautiful smile 🙂

I was driving a 300", two winch, skeleton Kenworth... Unloading haul trucks, (rig from Tulsa) between Thistle and Soldiers Summit, with raised rail roll or 30' heavy wall gin poles and at the end of one day my swamper and I did not want to take down the poles to go to the motel in Provo. So we put a red flag on them and raised them high enough, but low enough to get on the Hwy. In Provo was in the middle lane of a one way street with college kids on both sides reaving their mothers when I pulled up between them at a stop light. Swamper said "give them a thrill". So I selected the right gear and when the the light turned green I goosed it and with them heavy poles the front axle raised about four feet of the pavement! Blew them minds of them college kids ! You talking about your front end coming catching air brought that memory back and thought I would share. Love watching you work "Mater" ! Keep on, keeping on ! 👀 👍🏻

Just keep doing what your doing, and what you can manage. You have it right about the balance and hopefully you can get to a place where youtube funds itself and more. Don't worry about more cameras - The problem isn't the cameras and all the extra bits - NO one just buys a gopro.... The problem is once you get the extra cameras your edit time goes up exponentially 3 cameras is more like 4 times edit time and it just gets worse. Thank you for sharing what you can and it's really cool seeing all the things you do and crazy places you can get a vehicle out of.

Dude, I love how you do you! I know you get a lot of comments about how you should change this or add that, but what makes you, you is how you do that thing you do. You've figured out the vehicle setup and equipment that works best for the intended job. Of course we'd all like a little more video'ing from you, but what you're doing as amazing.

Don't worry about making everyone happy, you could film every aspect of every recovery and some people would still complain. I'm looking forward to seeing the new wrecker build, but it took me 2 1/2 years to build my truck, so I get it takes time. We've got a life to live outside of KZread 😉

Thanks for the content and having the job as the priority. It's great to see your daughter in the shop with you, I really miss those days with my daughter. This summer (before she goes to college)(!!) we will be upgrading the suspension on her Jeep together. Last summer we swapped newer less rusty doors from a parts Jeep we picked up, and got running and sold after taking what we needed from it. She is a genius (studying astrophysics!) but understands there is more to life than book learning. And thank you for keeping it clean! I don't understand why people feel the need to throw that into everything they say when it has nothing to do with anything, give me an um or uhh any day!

My first car was an 84 K10 SM465. My mechanic father and I put a heavy duty clutch in it. Less than a few weeks later, neither of us had the strength to push it in; had to start it in-gear and drive it into the garage to replace with a stock clutch. If you are running old school z-bar, just run a stock clutch. It will be fine. Given the setup, I assume it's old enough to still be z-bar. Otherwise, I just made an a-- of myself, haha. As far as your videoing, keep doing what you're doing. This is YOUR channel. We love the content. Thank you for posting. Hopefully, someday, you bypass Matt in subscribers and you'll have a full production crew ;-) Tell Matt I said that. I respect the hell out of you, Rory. You run your business well and are a genuinely fantastic guy. Keep being you.

@@trailmater This is a family channel, so I'll leave out the expletive...but YES!!! I'm all about the z-bar. You get so much more feel for the engagement over hydraulic. My friends think I'm crazy for loving that system, after seeing me break the z-bar, sheer the ball stud, and snap the adjuster pin all at different times...but I keep one of every part in my tool box just in case. I'm all-in on z-bar.
