Here’s what will happen: he’ll do 10 films, take some time off, write a couple novels, maybe do a stage play and then down the road he will come up with an idea so great that he won’t be able to resist filming and they will market the crap out of it as “the return of Tarantino.” Mark my words.

scorcesse hasnt fallen off. Goodluck waiting for fincher to "fall off", that aint happening loool. Quentin with his writing style can NEVER fall off, like you cant write that good for literally decades and just start writing or making mediocre stuff, i dont believe that in his case at all. For the filmmakers that had fallen off in the past, before they did you could see spot some gaping flaws or flops in their hay day, not the same for quentin cause his attention to detail is everything

Seemed obvious to me that that was what he was referring to. The bride and her daughter have been living their lives for 20 years, then they get thrust back into that life. Who else would be the one that causes that? Of course he didnt say that, and he wouldn't. But I think that's the case that he was trying to subtly imply.

We also have to remember that he takes such pride in his work and if he feels like stopping while he's in a great place to avoid making something he might not even be proud of or really want to make than I think that just shows how passionate he is about film making and I think it's also evident that although he does make films for the audience, at the end of the day he creates because HE loves it and if he decides that that era is over than I respect that.

Ran for example is a masterpiece. Kubrick didn't loose any steam either. There were certainly more. Who knows maybe fifteen years later some idea for a movie will itch him so much that he will reconsider. If not, then not.

I'd like to see him make a film about how he made it, like a coming of age thing. His story is as iconic as his movies. He's the guy who worked in the video store and dreamed of making it like so many of us who did the same. He is like a hero to that generation. Also, even the fact we could have a video store in it, they dont even exist anymore. I seriously think that would be amazing

@@mullaoslo It opens with a 17 minute scene in Video Archives Store, where young Quentin suggests a selection of obscure 1970s cult cinema VHS tapes to an undecided customer. He lists off crazy, savant like knowledge about them and so on. Then, after all that the scene climaxes with the customer saying: " Cool, just give me whatever. I have a guy coming over tonight who ive been trying to get with, for like, forever. And i just need something to stick on in the background". Cut to A Close up of young Quentin, Absolutely disgusted at the womans lack of appreciation of the medium. He then whips out a Samurai sword, chops her head off and says a cool one liner. Cue, the opening credits

He compares directing to "sports", but the obvious fallacy is that you biologically peak at sports in your mid 30s or 40s (depending on the sport), whereas a director can make his best film at age 65. Joe Rogan is correct in that the fallen director just seems to be the one that gets complacent and makes fluff garbage for a cash grab. Plenty of directors have made great films at age 65. Nobody was talking about how Kubrick "used to be good" before he turned 50.

but kubrick only made about a dozen movies over his whole career too. if he had made 30 movies, at least one of them probably would have sucked and we wouldnt talk about him the same way we do now.

Let me explain. He wasn’t better. He just finally understood what he needed to do to get his films financed. I honestly can’t comment on his, ummm, “abilities” to film a movie at any age. I don’t care but you seem to. Quite a bit.

you're missing the fact, that sport takes a toll on your mental health as well. Being competitve at any level is not just about being able to physically - the mind is as important as the body in sports. And you're completely missing the fact that Tarantino wasn't talking about the ability to "perform", but about the performance being attractive to people. IE. basketball player is on top for 20 years, stops being something amazing for sports fans, director does great movies, new vibe and all, for 20 years - can still make good shit, but is no longer considered ground breaking. He openly says, he can still do good movies, but he just want's to retire while he's on top of his game, not because he doesn't have it anymore.

I think the overall pattern is correct, but there are some exceptions to "every artist loses it at some point". On musicians/albums, I mean, 2016 began with Bowie's Blackstar and ended with Cohen's You Want It Darker. Both truly great albums. Both right before they each respectively dropped dead. Were they absolute peak? Maybe not, but they were worthy of their legacies. And both had many decades, rise and fall, so many albums, but showed they each had fuel in the tank at the end.

The only way to do Kill Bill 3 would be to make it about Copperhead's daughter's revenge for her mother's death. The Bride even sets this up when she hints that in the future she'll understand if in the future she wants revenge and that she'll be waiting.
