His answer to the first question, "What is a reservoir dog?" is truly the essence of good art. Always drove me nuts, some people's obsession with trying to know every literal meaning of every song lyric or scene in a movie or whatever. It's all about how you interpret it, 95% of the time - yes, there are some things that have a meaning that is obvious and generally meant to be taken one way, but that's not usually the case, and even then a different interpretation isn't necessarily any less valid than the intended one. I've always thought criticizing or debating on good v. bad art was a monumental waste of time. Telling someone else they're wrong for liking something that you don't always struck me as really shitty and people do it all the time.

Reservoir Dogs is the precursor to all of Tarantino's subsequent films in that he shows you the wit, style and impact of showing the one thing that all of his films feature. That is the sudden turn of events that lead to an inescapable finality for the characters.
In the 90's I thought this movie maker is a psycho, today I realize he's a genius.

For me the way he answers the question at 03:23 goes to show why he's among the best and at the same time why movies today are shite. movies today, especially the MCU universe tell my what to think, what to believe, who's right and who's wrong. I don't like that and don't need that either. I like to make up my own mind and have a discussion about it. I'm absolutely loving Tarantino's movies

@@PoissonVisageStudios The version I heard was slightly different. The film was called 'Au Revoir les Enfants,' and in the video store, Quentin always called it "That Reservoir movie" whenever someone rented it. The "Dogs" part came from 'Straw Dogs.' I believe this version to be more accurate, because there was another story (also in the video store days) about how he would always misspell "Inglorious Bastards" as "Inglourious Basterds."

I respect you're decision...you have had enough. some of my favorite actors came SNL old school... 1970's What's funny is I really recognize everything you're talking about.

Quinton Is So Cool, Man
7:43 quentin would have made it big eventually... but what I'm taking from this story is: Harvey Keitel made res. dogs go from some kids making an indie movie, to some kids making an actual movie. Steve fucking Busciemi wouldn't have been in the film if keitel didn't fly them to new york. They apparently had ZERO money. And Lawrence Bender was just a dude quentin knew from acting class?? The whole tale is pretty crazy. (quentin did have true romance which he had sold, so there was that... but Keitel seems pretty important in Tarantino's career.)
He reminds me of Mike Patton (Faith No More) in this video!
