This song is so bitter sweet to me. I was a fan of this song for years, but after losing my wife to end stage renal disease, this song truly clicked to me. After all of the pain I endured dealing with insurance, drs, hospital stays dialysis appointments, all the ups and downs with trying to take care of her and keep her alive and happy only to still lose her in the end... I still wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. She was everything to me and she showed me that even though it didn't last long, I can still cherish it forever, and I will. We were only together for 10 years but as the song says " Just one year of love is better than a lifetime alone. "

My broken heart truly goes out to you and I'm very touched by your story of how cruel life has been to you and your wife. I wish that I could fix everyone's problems as I hate to see people go through terrible times and suffering. I truly admire the attitude that you have about one year of love is better than a lifetime alone. Cos that's how I look at life. I love some of the Queen remixes this tune should of been a huge #1 hit i agree John Deacon is a great songwriter and muscian and went out the right way and said Queen was over when the amazing Freddie died and did not want to work with Queen again he has lots of respect from me for that statement!

John actually stayed with the Queen guys for 6 years after Freddie passed, to appear at the Freddie Tribute show and did two other Queen related performances. He helped put together The Made in Heaven album and appeared on the No one But You single and even appeared on Brian's solo album on a track.
