This song is probably one of the greatest tracks of all time and I feel it's slept on a little bit. The composition is incredible when you break it down. The drums are pretty monotonous, the march of life. But then Freddie's voice is adding to that but there are cracks of the madness slipping through. Then you've got the synthesizers and guitar work that's almost haunting, if that makes sense. Put it all together and you've got such an incredible piece of music. It's just incredible!

I still can't watch the video to "These are the days of our lives." I managed it - once - and cried my fucking eyes out. You can really *see* that something was terribly, terribly, wrong with Freddie. And what's worse is what Dr. May noted in 2011. It was only a few years after we lost Freddie that the "good" HIV meds came out. Ones that worked without destroying the body. (Freddie had been taking what meds there were, but the first ones put out were *so* hard on him and made him so sick. So he gave them up - I believe less than a year before he passed.) Too many don't know what we lost when Freddie Mercury died...

What sucks is that the person who deserved to see their music being loved after almost 50 years is not here to see it. He if anyone deserved to see it! I can't even imagine his reaction to his; *their* music being so appreciated; how many people admire him. Breaks my heart just thinking about it, oh little Freddie. Bet he's up in heaven or down in hell driving people crazy with new music. Freddie was something else sent down by the only thing I can describe as gods, to stay here for a little while and then leave us just wanting more. I praaaay that John, Brian, Roger and Freddie one day reunite somehow, maybe not in this world.

@@alienillusi0n Well he did in fact say that he was gonna be a legend. Sad thing is that *most* legends die young, because freezing in time and beauty is what makes people legends. They never lost their colors. Freddie will never be forgotten; the same with Queen because their music is timeless. Almost 30 years after his death, he's still the best singer in the entire world. What did we do to deserve such a man? The world wasn't simply ready for Freddie, probably would've been. He was still, alive at the best period of time for music, but not when it comes to homophobia and the medication for aids. Imagine if he had lived a couple more months and gotten the treatment. I can't even imagine Freddie growing old.

I've been a Freddie fan since I was 4 year old. This is for me, the darkest song in Queens or Freddie's solo catalouge. Describing what Freddie had to deal with in his final years and months. AIDS will take the sanity. Yet, this song is more than gracefull. Helping me to deal with my own mental disease. Thank you, Freddie ❤(cause my biological dad was just a piece of shit).

This is my favorite guitar solo. It’s not the most technical by any stretch, but it’s almost got like four personalities in it, which is so fitting with the whole “slightly mad” thing. Brilliant.

His bandmates even said this song has a powerful meaning because Freddie knew he was dying and they felt he was going slightly mad because of it

There is a kind of dementia that comes along towards the end of the illness....I read he knew that and wrote the song. Still amazed that he could do this at all in his condition....he was just a true, pure performer. Sadly missed. 💗

This video shows Freddie's humour, the song is actually a reference to the fact that the illness was affecting his brain and yet here he is making light of it. Love and miss you Freddie. xx

@@efraim3364 the show must go on was recorded before this video. this music video was filmed in february 1991, the show must go on was recorded in december-ish 1990. mother love however was recorded in mid may 1991. by then, it was tough for freddie to walk. you can see in the behind the scenes footage for the these are the days of our lives music video which was recorded on may 30 1991

@Shady Anru the video is old clips not freddie live performance I think they are reffering to recording the song and if he was able to film this months after then he probably didnt need to be carried into the studio to record recording finished no 90 album released feb 91 I think slightly mad was filmed feb 91 then days of our lives in March 91 two live performances the other two were animation and old clips

@Shady Anru the date the video was filmed was February 14 - February 15. Jim huttons book said he was out for Valentine’s Day, and in some behind the scenes footage one of the clapboards said February 15.

I can't even begin to imagine how much pain Freddie was in, and he's out here running and dancing and crawling on all fours

Definitely one of his best performances.

Freddie was so ill at this point and the rest of the band knew they were going to lose him, and yet the "showman" in him carried on. His body was failing him but his voice did not. RIP Freddie still oved still missed xx

It's heartbreaking to see Freddie's weak appearance, but I can see he has a lot of facial expressions and gestures and it makes me think that he is born to be a performer. What an entertainer. Fun to see his motion

This is by far my favorite music video of the late era (Miracle + Innuendo) if not the best Queen music video at all. I must say, Freddie looked a bit strained in the other late videos. He probably knew it´s obvious that he is not doing well physically, but he kept on with recreating these masculine gestures of a rock star, but in a way which seems forced, as if he needed to show the world he is still fit, and that gives some of these videos a "cringe" feeling. Here on the other hand, he seems to be totally relaxed, free, foolish, he is playing but not overplaying, no need for mimicking masculinity, more allowing ironically affected, queer theatre-guy bodylanguage, more like the 70s Freddie, pre-mustache-era. And dressed up like a Tim Burton vampire, he looks sexy again. As dark as it sounds, but this look stood him very well, and it was a great and brave artistic decision to play an undead in such a funny way, concidering his situation. Must be British humour. Here he is showing his full theatre acting potential.

I can't take my eyes off Freddie. Every movement is a proof that he was a true artist, performer. Every time I watch this video, ı'm happy, because he seems very enjoying takings. @@steffanhoffmann1906 I know what you mean but that's kind of rude to say. Freddie lived his life at the fullest and was negligeant of some things but people didn't know as much about Aids as today. So yes, he was aware he was the only one to blame because his friends had warned him to stop living like this. But the thing is, you never think something is really that bad before it happens to you... And the same goes for him. He didn't understand how bad it would be before it happened to him. The gay community was toxic at that time because no one accepted them. In the end, his private life was his own and no one should judge it. It's not like he said to people : My way of living is right, you should do the same ! No, he was a private person and journalists were always bothering him. What should we remember about Freddie : He was a true artist, a wonderful singer, a really nice person who cared about others, who was humble and didn't have a big ego. That is what truly matters ! I don't believe in God, in heaven and all the blablabla, so it's important to keep him alive in our own ways.
