His vibrato is absolutely unforgettable. My favorite Frontman. I watch him for hours. He can sing a heavy rock song, and turn around and sound like a choir boy. I think his vocals were the best late 70s early 80s.

They realized just after your first break that the crowd does not, in fact, know the song, and that Freddie will have to sing it himself. You can hear Fred say, "They don't know it," and Brian reply, "That's alright."

Beautiful song, and lovely analysis!! Thank you!! To me Freddie is, hands down,, the greatest frontman ever!! He has said in several interviews that Queen was there to put on a SHOW! If people wanted a perfect rendition of their songs, they should stay home and listen to the records! He could hold the crowd in the palm of his hand, off night or not! Would love to hear more Queen!White Queen from the Odeon Hammersmith, is probably one of his top 3 performances live!! Thsnks again

I graduated in 1981. They were, and still are everything!! Brian May built his beautiful electric guitar with his dad when he was 15. By far one of the greatest of all guitarists. I love that he didn't destroy them either. I saw The Who, just to hear Roger Daltrey scream, but was sickened by the destruction Pete Townsend had to display.

This is the loveliest version by Freddie, he was at the top of his game, and his voice was perfect. Have you seen in later years, with Brian on a platform in the middle of the audience, and they sing with him. Near the end, Freddie is shown on video on a screen finishing the song. I have seen tears in Brian's eyes a few times. Also, on the platform next to Brian is an empty stool. My tears.

I partialy grew up with Queen but appreciated them much later because I wasn’t completly aware of all their songs. Mainly the known ones. I heart love of my life when Dimash sang it with super vocal boys (medley) as a tribute to Queen and since then I’am fond of this masterpiece song of Freddie too😍he sings it so delicatly and genuinly realy beautifull. May he rest in peace🌹he left us a heritage we will never forget and we’re still enjoying it.

God save the "Queen"😊❤ Hi Caleb, Thanks for the great professional analysis. I had the great fortune to attend a " Queen " concert in 1980 in Cologne/Germany and can only confirm - they were and will always remain one of the best bands of all time. I suspect, that you prefer reacting to live performances, but would love to see your analysis of MV of Freddy's last song "I'm going slightly mad".In my eyes - one of the most underrated songs of "Queen". The MV is imho also a masterpiece. What mental power must a human being have, to perform such a feat , knowing his fate , half a year bevor death ... R.I.P, Freddie, you will never be forgotten.

Great reaction and analysis. You discuss something that is not often discussed, it would be great if you could analyse The Golden Boy by Freddie and Montserrat Caballe. The way Freddie changed his voice to more warmth, from high to low, or distortion is remarkable, and it is something you don't see that much. He almost never just sang a line, he added different pitches and colours to different words. This really helps to underline the emotion of the song. Singing isn't just about hitting a few high notes, you are also telling a story or relaying a message through a song.

Might sound strange, but I think great thing about Fred was he could improv his voice . He could switch things up at will. Lot of other singers try to always sound just like a recording. Some spend years in intensive vocal training to be able to perform. Then there are those to whom it just comes so naturally, like Fred. Myself, I am mediocre at best.

One of my all time favourites... thanks for your analysis, it's so accurate. Could you imagine to make a video about a David Bowie song? Would be nice to hear your thoughts.

@@CalebColesMusic That would be awesome. Maybe this one?: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iI2Hm66McdfMp5M.html ,it's Nina Simones's *Wild is the Wind* with the incredible Mike Garson on the piano. Or *Lazarus* of his last album Blackstar, but there are no Live versions because, you know.... 😢

HI Beth. I know the red electric guitar he plays (called the Red Special) his dad and him built together. I'm not sure about this 12 string acoustic though :)
