This very much alive queen bumble bee was covered in cobwebs (I didn't record that, I just watched it try and walk) so it must have clearly managed to escape a web.
I have then watched it for two days, as it managed to remove the cobwebs but I think she must have got her wing damaged escaping. As it clearly cannot fly and one wing has a piece missing.
Such a shame.
Spiders and webs are part of nature but often they are on our houses which aren't nature and our houses are often in the way.
Bumblebees can be found on window ledges and so on (We keep our conservatory door closed no matter what the weather, so they don;t get trapped, you can also buy magnetic netting.
I found 3 dead bumblebees on the patio, two covered in spider webs.
(I didn't leave them to be become part of the food chain instead I will use these at talks to gardening clubs)
This is why it's so important to do our best to help garden for nature to counterbalance the damage we do just by being on the planet!
