In some situatuions another approach is getting you more value. If you have no gov cap issues and a rich region, you can tc one big state (5 provinces) and upgrade the trade center + the investment for +4 trade power and build market places. Now you decrease all other centers in the node and delete marketplaces, because you want the tc to have as much trade power percentage wise in the node to increase the goods produced. Now you state everything else and have crazy goods produced. You also need to be own all/most of the node so nobody steals it.

You can do this as Spain in Northern Morocco state, Ottomans in the Aegean Islands, and on top of the goods produced modifier from trade company power, you can slap the 1000ducat investment for +10% trade value to increase your production and trade income further :))

Works best in specific nodes that don't have alot of trade centers

Basically, if you are asking if "territory or TC" TC the trade centers and ideally have one in every state-area. If you are asking "state or TC", then once you completelly control a node, make one state-area fully TC and have it control as much of the trade power as you can

One of the best examples of the power of Trade Companies that I ever experienced was the Girin trade node in Asia/Siberia. It doesn't have a lot of Trade Centers or Estuaries, but that is precisely why it's so good. I honestly don't know why it went as crazy as it did, but just having the proper provinces in that node as trade centers, it beefed up goods produced so much, that even the shiity, undevved siberian livestock provinces were giving me +0.7 to +0.9 ducats just from building a manufactury there. And I know that he literally said that it's actually more than that, because of the trade value the manufacturies produce, but still. A shitty 3 dev siberian livestock province giving me almost a ducat a month from production alone, simply because there's a TC in that area is insane.

Starting as Khmer, Sunda, or Majapahit and forming the USA, you can get 0-5% minimum autonomy in any territory. Completion of the mission trees for one of those starting countries grants access to the Buddha Hindu deity, which allows you to gain modifiers from the Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) and Imperial City of Hue, which grant -15% and -10% in territories when fully upgraded, respectively. Being either a monarchy with the govt reforms "Regional Representation" and "Decentralized Bureacracy" or a republic with "Bureaucratic Apparatus" will give you another -10%. The Expansion Ideas bonus is -10%. One of the USA's national ideas grants -10%. Being the economic hegemon for over 200 months grants -20%. Per province based on trade good, the state house manufactory will give you an additional -10% or -5%. Lastly, the trade company upgrade will grant -5% in every province in that region. This is a grand total of 15% minimum autonomy without buildings, up to 0% if there is the right trade good and there is one province in the trade company region with the upgrade.

I tried this without forming usa, formed siam and dai viet instead, it is strong but i made alot of mistakes, im in 1720 and i don't know if i can finish it as wc one faith so i gave up... You get propagate religion as hindu so i was converting like 20 provinces at once, it is super strong path, i wanna come back and give it another shot

Another key point is that trade value (not trade power) Is NOT effected by autonomy

6:02 - to be fair, it does show the trade value it gives you if you have no production dev from that trade good (granting a monopoly on it for example)

It was today when I learned that this goods produced modifier does not apply to Gold provinces, despite nothing in the game nor wiki mentioning that.

That explains why I hate trade companies. I either state everything or TC everything I can, no in between. OOPS
