Imogen Heap has implied before that it was inspired by her parents' separation and divorce, which would make sense since the entire theme of that album was old memories. She has said explicitly that it's about having painfully lost someone, which could apply to 9/11, but she has never said as much. If it were about 9/11, I think she'd have made that clear.

@@zladut I think she interpeded it to have many meaning, 9/11, The Holocaust, even crazier shit like Christianity and Alien Invasion, From listening to this song this year, I do imagine it to be about the coronavirus, the words and emotion from the song and video make so much sense

Knowing that you sing this from a scientist's point of view, or "insider" so to speak, makes it all that more effective. Also, the stoic uncaring ending is retained from the original. Your parodies are so good at doing this. This has a lot that needs to be said, even now in 2023. Thank you from a fellow man of science.

Watching this 2 years later -- After the vaccine's been released... After restrictions have almost all been lifted... -- makes me realize that part of me is still stuck in 2020. While I can now go shopping and realize halfway through that I've left my mask at home and my friends can have birthday parties without much concern, this song resonates with a black-and-white shadow of myself that still looks out at the world through pulled blinds and a fear of death, trapped in a quarantine that's long since ended.

so so true ... the entire world all felt something like this for an entire year. With vaccines and several variants and life not yet being normal but more normal than back then, these feelings are inside of us, have shaped an entire generation.

First time I heard this, I wasn't ready. At the time I was working in the medical field. It was too close to the stories of the primary care staff. The second time I heard it was today. I love it and I cried. Thank you. I love your channel.

You can really tell watching this how much Tim felt he needed to make this. The authenticity is palpable and beautiful.

I like all the different expressions. Scary, scared, bewildered, frustrated, trapped, lost, angry, off balance, haunted, tired, sad, confused, even hopeful and so many more. It speaks to all of our moods and feelings. Even after all those days of watching the production, I can't stop watching this video. I think it has entered my DNA.

This song encapsulates the feeling of the original near perfectly. Listening to it 3+ years after its release makes the themes, tones, and anguish all the more connected to the narrative framing of the original. Thank you. This song made me shed a tear.

@@zladut Yes I am! We have a Twitch channel of SciComm, and when we finish our live streams, around 11 PM (CET), Tim is generally live with his stream, so it's a pleasure to send him some of our viewers 🤗

I've only found your channel recently. But man, this song hits hard, even though it's 2-3 years after the fact. Me and my nearest family/friends pretty much come through the pandemic unscathed, and it's easy for me to put it behind me. But this song put me right back there and made me remember many people/families weren't so lucky. The unrealness of it all. So thank you for reminding me; it's a sad note in history, but important to remember. About the song it self, I've gone back to listen to the original as well. Which is already great! But where the origin really sounds 'electronic' with vocalizer layering, your versions sounds way more authentic. I don't know if you layered with a vocalizer? But if you did, you hid it well! So quality wise, I adore your version even more then the original. Combined with more relatable lyrics, ... ow man, .. this is a work of art.

Much like Imogen's own video, I find this song criminally under-watched. SO GOOD!

Went looking through my favorited videos after years of neglecting the archaic playlist when I saw Entropic Time again. I checked out your channel and saw you had still been uploading for a while after and then found this?? OMG, all the yeses. Imogen Heap is one of my favorite artists and extremely underrated, thank you for not only doing this "parody" justice, but you were gracious enough to keep most of the song as-is

This song is so heavyhearted and sorrowful, yet somehow cathartic so thanks. I hope one day you can live from your songs, if that's not already the case cause I very much appreciate them.

Your musical skills never cease to amaze me. That was stunningly and hauntingly beautiful. I must say, I had never heard the original song - I went and found it after this and listened - but I think your version is better. And grieving is perfectly ok IMO. PS - If that is you actually hitting that high range and not a little electronic help... I am insanely jealous of your vocal range. Just saying.

Literally i´ve just found this channel (Next year i will have my Biotech Degree) and i loved it, but finding a Hide And Seek parody being one of my favorite songs... WOWSER

I can put up with quarantine and just about anything for the sake of public safety. What's really hard for me is not having seen my dad in 9 months because he travelled out of the country I live in to the US for business reasons before he finished his citizenship paperwork, and worrying for him and my older siblings' health since they live in New York...

That we have been walking with you makes this all the more powerful. Thank you again for opening yourself to us, and now, the world.

Am now! Just watched it. Kids got me up at 5:50 am but I forced them to sleep more. Little buggers, haha. Wow, what a song. Didn't expect any less from Tim. I want to give him a hug.

Obscenely beautiful. This made me cry, and I desperately needed this cry after staying "strong" for too long.

Honest and beautiful. The virus doesn´t care a bit, but it knows nothing about caring. We humans know, and that will be our strength, I think.

OK, I was already crying at 40 seconds in. I'm finding this on July 31st--seeing that you made this in mid-May, which I look at and think, that's so long into the pandemic! but here I am, almost August, and it's only worse, it's so much worse. Thank you for making this. I needed some good grieving, too.
