It’s funny that this is considered under rotated when other skaters have almost a compete turn in prerotation.

He under rotated, but the landing is aesthetically pleasing. This is more commendable than prerotation, which usually creates a forced entry into the jump. Unless one can hide it really well, the jump would be aesthetically unpleasant. The "fast" skaters can get away more often from this effect. Only when you watch it in SLO motion would the unpleasant or messy jump reveal itself. Skaters don't want to risk falling, so my guess is that they will pre rotate to lower the risk when trying to complete a quad.

Nowadays there are a lot of men and women doing glorified triples getting full quad credit, so you're not wrong

@@arturo435 I know, what's the diference if you pre rotate or under rotate, at the end your aren't doing the full revolutions in air, it's not fair

@@FernandaMartinez-ve7os it's completely unfair and very biased. Adam landed many 4Ls like this one but he never got full credit, sans one time I think(USC 2015?) and most of the times he was just missing that last 1/4. In the last year or so, I've seen 'quads' have nearly 1/2 of the first rotation on the ice, not to mention using full blades instead of toe picks, and using flat edges when entering jumps. It's a joke at this point.

@@arturo435 I mean, if the first ratified quad Lutz at olympics it's not the one from Boyang Jin but Vincent Zhou or that a 4Lz from Shcherbakova have received positive GOE yes, it's a joke at this point

Why should he shut up for that reason? He's a commentator at this event and he's supposed to commentate on the performance. And the quad was pretty much just a triple when looking at the rotations in the air.

The problem with Johnny and Tara is that they talk way too much and sometimes they are way too rude. They're supposed to commentate what is happening on the ice, so they could simply the name of a jump/combo + if it was bad or good - for people who aren't into figure skating it is enough, but they sometimes brag about their competitive careers (even during the performance) as if there were people who care about that. If they want to talk so much about a skater they have time to do it before and after the skate, otherwise it is simply distracting and rude. Here he was somewhat decent in his commentary but most of the times it's just unbearable to listen to him and Tara.

Quad, Schmad. Why is this the defining thing in mens' figure skating now? If this persists, all you will see on the ice are guys who are 5'3 and built like matchsticks. If I want to see munchkins, I'll watch The Wizard of Oz. Oh, and while I am at it, be sure to get a copy of J.K. Rowling's new book, Adam Rippon and the Glutes of Death.

Jerald Collins Most male figure skaters are already short. Many are only like 5’5 - 5’8

I'm not sure what this comment is getting at. The Russians who ushered in the era of the quad were 5'9, 5'10, and 5'11. Hanyu and Chen are 5'8 and 5'6. Scott Hamilton was 5'4. Dick Button was 5'11. Meanwhile Shoma is 5'2 and has the most problems with his quads out of the top men. Nothing has significantly changed about either the heights or sizes of male figure skaters.
