Description:
In this video I run you through the installation of the Quad Lock Wireless Moto Charger on my 2017 Yamaha XSR700.
I'll take you through what's in the box, the installation of the charging head, the wiring of the bike and battery, an overview of how it works, and finally a test scramble down one of the green lanes local to me!
There are basically 3 ways of wiring the Quad Lock Wireless charging head:
Using a short USB lead into an existing USB port on your bike.
Using the SAE to USB plug provided, plugging that into an existing SAE connector on your bike, and then running a USB lead from that to the charging head.
Using the battery terminal to SAE lead, plugging the SAE to USB adapter into that, and then running the USB lead from that to the charging head - this is the option I will be going for.
Getting the wireless charging head installed is very simple, especially if you have an existing Quad Lock mount installed to the bike. It's just one screw through the middle and it's done!
To wire up the bike (a 2017 XSR700) I end up having to remove the left side panel to feed the wire down the bike.
After reinstalling the panel, I get to wiring up the battery.
One issue with the lead they provide is the plugs are quite thick. They are also quite short, and a combination of this makes it a little hard to fit them around the terminals. the plugs end up bending up a little, but they don't clash with the plastic above, so I left them like that.
Finally it's time to take a look how it works. The most important thing here is the power consumption, I'll list that here:
Plugged in and switched on: 12mAh, battery will drain in 1 month
Unplugged at USB or switched off: 6mAh, battery will drain in 2 months
Unplugged at SAE: No power drain
I hope you enjoyed the video and found it useful!
Thanks for watching,
BallaMOTO

You can wire it in using a relay with the trigger wire going to something hot when ignition is on. That way you can leave the mount permanently ON and don't ever have to touch the power button again.

They're leather wraps from TripmachineCo. Great for dampening the vibrations, and giving a slightly thicker grip. But they're a bit more slippery depending on your gloves. And you understand that for a wireless charger to be truly "wireless", it'd need a battery the size of your phone battery, and require itself to be recharged after every time it charges your phone? Any joking aside; until you've tried this set up, you won't understand how much more convenient it is to just jump on the bike, snap the phone on and have it charge. I think you have more money than sense. Went from a discrete quadlock to a bulky one for a extra £70. could have just ran a usb cable upto the mount and bought a cheap waterproof cap for the cable. stick a little strong magnet under the mount and a small washer on the usb lead and leave it under there untill needed. The fact newer versions dont come with the usb adapter is insulting for the price
