Quick tip for Qatari etiquette: when you are done with food and want to wash your hands, before doing so do not forget to say, Kather Allah Kharkom (كثر الله خيركم) and then go wash your hands. This is being polite and can be said by Men and Women too.

Awesome video, just curious though I am assuming there must be some important things to know regarding the left hand when eating, like do you just never pass food or do anything like that with your left hand at all or?
@raptorx364
5 жыл бұрын
Noah Loiselle It's better to use ur right hand for most things.... unless ur right hand is really busy and u can't do anything about it.. then it's okay to use ur left hand... though many ppl will not judge you for that.. but it's nice to use ur right rather than left when passing food etc..
Wow, I see a lot of similarities with our Sanatan/Hindu culture... We culturally sit on the ground, we use our hands to eat (we prefer no spoons), it is much more hygienic too (I can explain it scientifically, if required). Yes the host may load your plate with more food and 'order' you to Finish it, that's our Love and Affection towards our guest, we (kind of) force you to have MORE... We also pray to our Gods and then start eating. At the end we are supposed to thank our forefathers and God to bless us with nice and healthy food. We are not supposed to drink water while or immediately after eating. We are supposed to eat PAAN that helps in digestion works as a mouth freshener too. We are supposed to drink water at least 30 minutes after we finished our meal. We culturally are supposed to eat on large platters made up of bronze or silver (if one can afford that). Please share more, it helped me gain knowledge. Thanks
Serve food with your hands? I kinda like that concept

I'm from the USA; my neighbor is muslim and they're nice folks. With Ramadan coming is there a gift or treat that would be appropriate to give? Also I'll not be back home until Ramadan starts, so is there any appropriate time of day to give or not give the gift or treat?

Ivo Garza that’s really awesome of you. During Ramadan the best thing to give is food around an hour before it’s time to break fast. It’s the ultimate sign of friendship. It can be any type of food at all. Expect a gift of food in return :)

Regarding leaving some food in plate after being full What does Allah say about wasting? Surah: 3, Verse: 147. (Eat of its fruit when it yields, and give its due on the day of its harvest, and do not waste Sayyiduna Nubayshah (radiyallahu’anhu) reported that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said: ‘Whoever eats from a plate and licks it (after meals, using his fingers), the plate seeks forgiveness on his behalf.’ (Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 1804) Anas may Allaah be pleased with him said: "The prophet ordered us not to leave anything in the plate and he said: "You do not know in which portion of your food Allah has put the Barakah "(Blessing). [Muslim]
We used to play qatari video games.
Shabia71 Khanom Coming from an Islamic perspective to leave some food to show your full is disappointing aswell as wasteful, although it’s a few grains
yes of course I would like to eat food with you by your hands 🙋
So basically its general islamic culture. I love it. Allahu ackbar
is it not true that you are not supposed to eat with your left hand?
So what you take to someone’s house as a treat, do you call it Khatarah?

Really missing atmosphere 0:40 .
We Indians eat by hands... And that's the easy way more than spoons.. !
I respecto foreing culture but I can stomach the eating with the hand thing, I mean the cook touches the food, sure, but there´s something about it that just rubs me in the wrong way.
Your host feeds u until you cannot move. Yummy

I’m Qatari and I don’t say bismallah before I eat, I don’t eat with my hands and in the end of my meal I don’t say alhumdellah nor I expect my guests to say so. Maybe it’s time for each of us Qataris to stop talking about everyone else and as a collective nation, cuz we are individuals. It’s time for you to speak for your self and don’t put us all Qataris in one pot.

Well it's all part of our religion and culture. Not all people are identical. The purpose of the show is to show case culture and etiquette. I have Japanese friends who hate green tea but that doesn't mean that green tea isn't part of the culture. I don't like dihn al oud personally, but it doesn't mean it's not part of our culture. Perhaps you could make your own youtube channel and talk about topics that matter to you?

Jassim Fakhroo if you are a Qatari you go by tradition if you don’t go by traditions you aren’t a proper Qatari in Islam your u should say bismillah and alhamdallah so it’s not just about tradition or culture
@jfakhroo0

Mr. Q - iLoveQatar.net hmmmm !! But I’m the culture. I know othe Romany Qataris that dont do what it’s called “Qatari culture “ on your Chanel! Does that mean what they do is not Qatari thing ? If I eat with spoons and fork and I don’t say bismallah that should be part of the Qatari culture then
@iloveqatar
6 жыл бұрын
Jassim Fakhroo but nobody is telling you what to do or not to do over here. I think that for something to be considered cultural it is something that the average number of people in a society do. If I start wearing a green thobe tomorrow, even though I’m a Qatari it doesn’t mean it is now part of Qatari culture. With time, when it becomes the norm, then it can be called part of society’s culture. That’s just my opinion though. Again, nobody here is telling you what to do or what not to do. Nobody is trying to take away your individuality from our channel.
@jfakhroo0

Mr. Q - iLoveQatar.net I know you are not telling, but basically you are giving a false information. It’s kinda you being oppressed. So saying minorities in Qatar don’t count part of the Qatari culture ?
