    Nice demonstration. Gives a better view of the area and parts vs other vids with motor still in car. I will be tackling this job soon but will be also installing the JWT BSR Kit.

    you need to install either the hollow shell or the BSR kit or you'll risk oil starvation. The baffle plates in the kit help prevent that but the hollow housing actually works better due to it taking more volume in the pan.

    Would this only be a risk of oil starvation for racing hard cornering applications?

    Hi there, I know you might never reply to my questions for how much time has passed since the video, but... how well and effective has the BSR kit worked so far? How reliable, how much different was the power delivery, drivability and noises or sensation in the cabin, I bought mine about 3 years ago from 2J website, I still have it with me and is in top shape stored somewhere, so right after I cut the balance shaft chain and removed everything leaving it with the empty assembly and new oil, I decided to see how the engine would rev and idle, car was mostly parked and at this point, the engine already had some damage done to it and I didnt mind abuse it for the first 5 to 10 miles after taking the stuff off to see any power gain, I felt by removing it, it lost some power torque wise, top end was tough to get to, almost begging me to stop, it did idle better and cold started better too... I bought my spec V after it overheated, timing chain was about to go bad (which it never jumped any degrees, just making awful noises) the spark plug tube seals were leaking and all that, so I knew of all the issues with it, I was conscious about abusing it at the last minute, I decided to replace the motor about 2 years ago with a 50k~ish but ever since then I never really needed to install it cause for me it was just a perfect car, I'd rarely go over 6k rpm or even 5k cause I knew about the oil issue that happens inside the balance shaft assembly at certain rpms, I only put a Manzo 4-1 catless header with titanium heat wrap and called it good and reliable, it made more power for sure, besides the butterfly screws issue that I also already fixed before new engine, so I'm thinking on install it until now, cause I heard a similar rattle noise to the timing chain issue recently but its the balance shaft again since it not obnoxious, you can barely hear it inside the car so I'm sure of that, it hasn't lost any power yet, just sometimes it feels like it bugs to accelerate, feels heavier but nothing you would ever notice at first, I know my car like the palm of my hand😂 and sometimes sounds gruntier so I knew something was going on, would it be worth it to install it until now? It is the same JWT kit and also just so I give you more accurate info, I moved from southwest to the pacific northwest with the car, so I know my oil has lasted waaay longer because of lower temps most of the time, even tho sometimes I do hear the same rattle noises, oil seems to be clean the whole time, no signs of metals or smoke coming out or anything, always doing maintenance on time that I thought it was going to be enough to prevent it, let me know if it is worth it, THANK YOU and sorry for the long comment, I think anyone who I could talk to and help me understand this motor a little better would be you, I tried to contact VisionOneRacing and explain them the same, if you know who they are, but I never heard from them back, and from 2J I just get recommendations to buy a second gen crank and new internals, but I feel like mines still good enough for daily driving, motor most be 110k-120k miles now. Lmk, thanks🙏🙏🙏🙏

    2J just sells other peoples stuff for the most part, so the BSR kits are the same. The car will rev very slightly faster with the BSR kit installed other than that there isn’t much of a change. If your not planning on racing it I would not install it, there is just not enough of a benefit.

    how much socket wrench do you use open the balancer

    The balancer shaft bolts are 12 mm I believe to take it apart. The bolts that bolt it to the engine block are an E-torx bolt. For sure want to get those sockets to remove them or you will strip them.

    @@chrisbuildsitallwhy not? Don't you think if the bearings fail in this that they can destroy the engine. Since they spin 2x faster it means they will wear out fast and cause a possible problem. Also this would give you less power loss and also 1 liter more engine oil.

    They are a known failure point in these engines, engine revs a little faster and frees up tiny bit of power. Then an additional qt of oil.

    @@chrisbuildsitallmy engine has 225k km so it would be good time to do this right? This part if it fails can destroy the engine. Also a new seal for the oil pickup tube

    Is It the QR25 and QR25de the same engine?

  • @chrisbuildsitall

    @chrisbuildsitall

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes- all QR25 are the same from 2002-2006. Starting in 2007 there are some internal changes on the SE-R SPEC V models and some obvious intake changes. In 2017 I think is the year Nissan made more changes to place the exhaust on the rear of the engine and I take on the front.
