    For me, the hidden gem in this episode centers around the full moon dialogue, and how it doesn't actually contribute to our strangeness, when Sean Lock chimes up with, "So why do I go out killing?" I just had to pause the whole thing to regain my composure and stop crying, still laughing...

    I think that's why he does it, actually. Just watching him over ten seasons you sort of think, that guy is here to have fun, and ask questions, and make us feel less bad for being completely ignorant. He's so loveable, and if he doesn't know something, and he's so loveable, no one is going to hate me for being an idiot!

    I always get annoyed when someone says '___ has more bacteria on it than a toilet seat.' It's completely useless knowing HOW MANY are on something, without knowing WHAT KINDS of bacteria. Does the toilet seat have flesh eating bacteria, or just the stuff that's on our skin to keep us healthy? Does the cutting board have mostly harmless stuff, and maybe enough salmonella to keep my immune system working, or covered in botolum?

    Just to put things streight. Contrary to most opinions, us Catholics are not a bunch of idiots and we know what a beaver is. In the middleages beaver tails were concidered fish ( like it was said they have scales), and I think such believe had lived up untill the "modern era" (late XVIII early XIX century) in both catholic and protesant societies. So nowdays the Pope would not consider beaver to be a fish, nor would he still consider it's tail to be one. And by the way, this is not a Catholic "invention". It is a belive taken from ancient Romans and Greeks. Christians were allowed to eat fish during fast, because it was common knowledge that they "by will of God/gods" come to be from the stones at the bottom of a river/sea.

    The "beaver is a fish" for the purposes of lent has nothing to do with the scaliness. It is because the beaver was a staple of the diet of early Canadian traders. Edit: the following is wrong, explanation is in the replies Meat is avoided on Fridays during Lent because it is a luxury. Fish and beavers were staples of the diets of certain groups, eaten not out of luxury but out of necessity.

    I think there are a hell of a lot more than just four Earth satellites... ... Also, the term "moon" has become accepted for a smaller planet-like satellite orbiting one of the 8/9 major planets.

  • @darkabysskiller

    @darkabysskiller

    9 жыл бұрын

    Despite the terminology differences here, the 4 "satellites" mentioned here are NOT in orbit of the Earth. With specific regards to Cruithne, it has an orbit around the sun, yet when viewed from earth it appears to have a horseshoe shaped orbit around a point nearby to us, leading to the assumptions at the time of discovery of it having a horseshoe shaped orbit around Earth, leading to the term moon being used. To the best of my knowledge, four of the five "satellites" mentioned here are not satellites. (At least of Earth. Holding an orbit of the sun makes them satellites of the sun, of course)

The panellists are so good but I do tire of Alan, he is just a bore and always falls on racist things for a laugh. I have never understood how he gets away with it. It has to be one of the best shows ever as is big fat quiz as well as cats. when re-watching I find I had missed or forgotten some thing that was said.
