前面展望 上野東京ライン&常磐線品川→北千住 <Cab view Japan rail:Ueno-Tokyo line from Shinagawa to Kita-senju>

JR East Ueno-Tokyo Line and Joban Line Cab View: From Shinagawa Station to Kitasenju Station.
``Ueno-Tokyo Line'', like ``Shonan-Shinjuku Line'', is not the name of the line, but the name given to the driving route.
Operations began on March 14, 2015. Until then, the Tokaido Main Line and Yokosuka Line ran south from Tokyo Station, connecting Tokyo Station, which was the starting point for lines heading south and southwest from Tokyo, and Kami Station, which was the starting point north from Tokyo. Connecting the Tohoku Main Line and Takasaki Line that extend north from Ueno Station, direct service has begun in various variations. The Joban Line, which had previously run northeastward with Ueno Station as its terminal, now runs on this route, with Shinagawa Station, further south of Tokyo Station, as its terminal.
In other words, most trains passed through the previous terminals of Tokyo Station and Ueno Station, allowing direct service between the north and south lines.
Similar to the Shonan-Shinjuku Line, Tokyo Station and Ueno Station were connected by threading through gaps in existing routes, so there are some places where this route feels like it's running through a back alley.
Although this service has become convenient for many people, businessmen who work near Tokyo Station or Ueno Station say that they can't sit in their seats even if they are waiting for a train at Tokyo Station or Ueno Station. It seems that there have been complaints that it has disappeared. I don't know how they commute to work now.
Still, the JR tracks built in the center of Tokyo are imposing and attractive to look at.

I enjoyed the maze of track work at some of the stations, as well as the spiderweb of overhead lines and their supports. Also the seemingly constant flow of trains going here and there. Watching your train navigating it's way through all the "stuff" at the various stations was fun. It's all things you don't notice when you are a passenger. I enjoyed the whole video! 🎉

Thank you for your comment. that's right! This route is a maze. As it was recently constructed, the tracks go up and down and curve around in many places to avoid existing structures. It's an effort to create a bypass. However, that's what makes it interesting to watch.

@@14ikesan12 I've been continuously watchign different perspectives through the maze of central Tokyo, but what I haven't been able to find so far is a view of the connecting curve from Shinagawa to Osaki on the tracks the NEX runs on. Only from the Yamanote line's perspective. According to a map, no regular line service runs over these tracks, just express trains. I don#t know how accurate that information is though.

@@DrNagi The curve from Shinagawa to Osaki runs not only on the NEX but also on the Yokosuka Line. Limited express trains such as NEX operate infrequently and are not given dedicated tracks for honor trains. This is just the current situation. Thank you for your comment.

@@14ikesan12 The Yokusuka line is diverting to the south however, not the westwards curve that runs parallel to the Yamanote line.

I keep hearing about how very few Japanese speak English, yet the announcements are all in English first!

There are announcements in Japanese too. However, since both are native speakers, many words are abbreviated. English announcements are more formal.

There is clearly no graffiti in Japan these days. I hardly ever see it. Maybe it's because young people don't go out together anymore. They are just playing games in the room.
